Youngsters Follow Hollow's Lead
The Plymouth City Super League's new kids on the block continue to write the headlines as Dave Hollow put sixteen three figure scores onto the board.
That mammoth haul helped the Colebrook get the better of Kings Arms A by a 9-2 score line in a match that saw Hollow's teammate Darren Smith check a leg in three from 108.
One of two moments of magic from the defeated Oreston side came from an 84 checkout for Colin Sloman that steered him to a 3-2 triumph.
Fellow veteran Pete Dunbar continues to produce sparks of brilliance as he won a leg in 18 in a loss to Hollow that went to all give legs.
Kings Arms B suffered a similar fate at the hands of one of the more junior players in the league as Harry Bull set about them with thirteen tons.
This led Raffles to a 7-4 success despite Paul Carpenter's best efforts with the eleven ton plusses he chalked onto the scoreboard.
Bull's teammate James Ewing continued his lengthy purple patch as he notched an 89 checkout in a 3-1 win whilst the only maximum went to Martyn Down.
Lewis Dare was the main protagonist in Victory B's 8-3 win over Victoria as he produced thirteen ton plusses of his own.
One of those was the game's only 180 in the very first leg whilst Dare (31.98) needed just seventeen visits to the board to complete his 3-0 individual win.
Dare won legs in 13 and 14 darts during that period that saw him claim a truly world class three dart average of 95.94 per throw.
The highest achievable finish of 170 from Tom James was the obvious standout moment of an 11-0 for Victory A over Fawn B.
Danny Allen and Mark Shears contributed handsomely to the success with eleven tons each to their name.
Other moments of brilliance in the routine win came in the form of a 15 darter from Scott Cook in his 3-0 win whilst Matt Chegwin provided the only maximum of the match.
Both Glenn Halford and Glenn Austin reached double figures in ton plusses during an 11-0 win for Bluebird A away at struggling Half Moon.
Halford top scored with twelve whilst Austin chipped in with ten and the only noteworthy contribution from the defeated side came from a Tom Green 180.
The only comparison between the Octagon and Duchy Of Cornwall was the proximity of venues as the former secured an 11-0 win over the latter.
John Mann led the charge with twelve ton plusses whilst Dave Matthews supported his Devon teammate with ten.
Matthews was one of three to hit a maximum with the others coming from Fred Goldsmith and Duchy's Jason Bruce.
Bruce's feat more remarkable than the rest because that's his first of any form after only picking up a dart a few months ago.
In the individual phase, Mann (28.90) was the top performer with legs of 15 and 18 darts in his 3-0 win whilst a 100 checkout from Neil White contributed to his win by the same score line.
Simon Stevenson and Dave Roberts contributed immensely to an 11-0 win for Fawn A in their home clash with Victory C.
Stevenson added twelve tons and won his singles 3-0 with two of the legs being put away in just 16 darts a piece.
Roberts continues to enjoy an Indian summer at the oche; the type of form that help him win Devon caps in years gone by.
Part of Roberts eleven ton haul enabled him to win legs in 17 and 13 darts for another 3-0 win for the Greenbank team.
Four 180s were plundered in the match with Stevenson and Roberts bring joined by Victory's Liam Taylor and Jason Goldsmith in achieving that particular feat.
George Beckett (27.83) put on quite the showing during Steampacket's 7-4 win at Bluebird B in which he nailed twelve tons overall; winning his individual game 3-0 with the help of a 16 darter and his team's only 180.
The Devonport team did the damage early on in the matchup as Kayleigh Adams 80 checkout was then bettered by Marc Webber who checked 130 in a single visit for a 2-0 lead.
By the time Dale Halford hit the Compton side's only maximum and a leg in 17 darts in the first individual game of the match, his team were as many as 4-2 down.
Jamie Roberts and Vince Scallan did help as some respectability to the score with Roberts adding an 18 darter in his 3-1 win and Scallan producing a checkout of 103 to edge his game 3-2.
Mark Yeoman showed his undoubted class when putting eleven tons onto the scoreboard in King Billy's 9-2 success at St Levans.
Antony Hayman was also influential in the win as he netted a brace of 180s and an 18 darter in a 3-1 individual triumph over Tex Pearce.
That leg was only bettered on the night by a Scott Wapshott 17 darter in his 3-1 win over John Sturdy who had previously hit a maximum in the match.
One of the two points won by the Keyham side came from a Pearce 97 checkout in a 1001 doubles game, which took the match's high checkout honours.
A vintage ten ton scoring masterclass from Reg Matthews helped the Saltram gain an 8-3 win away at Clifton.
Matthews contributed one of five maximums in the match as his teammates Warren Gordon, Dave Algar and Frankie Stout all joined that particular party.
Ross Blake was the only man from the Greenbank side to provide a maximum in the match on what was an usually quiet affair for the talented Clifton team.
Teenager Stout got the better of Blake in a 3-0 single win that was accented by an 18 darter from the young Devon Youth star.
However, that leg was beaten by his captain Matthews who had earlier put a 16 dart leg in during another 3-0 win for the Saltram team.
Paul Tackle's ten ton haul put the Ker St well on their way to a 10-1 win over Hyde Park who had Jacob Bentham providing the only maximum of the contest.
The phenomenal strength in depth of the league truly shone through during this game week as at least one player achieved ten tons or more during every single one of the eleven fixtures.
