Welsh Dragon Fires Hyde Park To Big Win

Ben Welsh fired twelve ton plusses in a Plymouth City Super League Division B success for Hyde Park over Herbert, which was won by a 9-2 score line.

Welsh showed he was also competent in the finishing phase of play with a 76 checkout that came in a 3-0 triumph.

Mark Hopkins and Tex Pearce both starred with twenty two ton plusses shared equally for St Levans as they claimed an 11-0 win at Duchy B.

An eleven ton haul for Keith Carter helped Cherry Tree D dodge their first loss in the league as the leaders eventually secured a 6-5 triumph over Victory.

Carter was also the hero of the hour with a 3-1 individual success when throwing last with the scores tied at 5-5 between the two sides.

Carter's teammate Nick Bryant added a 94 checkout to the affair whilst the man that succumbed to the form of Carter, Kev Marshall, was one of of four maximum hitters for the defeated team.

Stablemates Phil Hoskin, Jason Goldsmith and Chris Beale all joined Marshall in hearing '180' called after throwing.

Fawn A continued their impressive form with Dave Roberts leading their charge to a 9-2 success over Kings Tamerton B with a ten ton personal tally that included the only 180 of the match.

Martin Pearson's 72 checkout proved crucial in a 3-2 individual triumph for the defeated and the only effort to better Pearson's heroics was a 110 kill by Reg Matthews that wasn't beaten by any Division B player.

Mike Bassett showed his class with an 18 darters and a 180 in a 3-0 win that came at the tail end of a 6-5 defeat for Fawn B at Legends Lounge.

Bassett also added the top checkout of the match with an 86 that pushed Liam Taylor's 78 combination for the victorious home side into second place for the best finish of the match.

Tony Reid's 107 checkout came in a 6-5 win for Cherry Tree B at Kings Arms A that came down to the very last possible leg played.

Reid was the victor in that 3-2 triumph that was secured when the scores were tied at 5-5 whilst Reid's aforementioned checkout meant Danny Phythian's 100 combo for the defeated side settled for the next best.

Brian Gourland's 80 checkout came in a 10-1 defeat for Victoria away at Kings Tamerton A; for whom Joseph Honeywill heard 'game shot' called at the first time of asking from 76.
