Ton Pool Anything But Shallow For Hal

Glenn Halford fired eighteen tons in the Plymouth City Super League Division A to lead Bluebird A to a 9-2 success over a much changed Colebrook line-up.



Three 180s accented that Halford total with teammate James Stoodley making it a quartet of efforts with a solitary maximum of his own.


Dan Giles fired two three treble visits in a 3-2 defeat to Halford that contained a crucial 13 darter, which aided Halford to his victory.



Halford also notched a 108 checkout earlier in the matchup that was tied for the best checkout of the night by teammate Glenn Austin.


Austin added nine more ton plusses overall to give him a ten ton tally and also checked 601 doubles game in 18 darts when pairing with Stoodley.



George Beckett heard scores of a ton or more called no fewer than sixteen times but still ended up on the wrong side a 6-5 loss as Steampacket were put down by Bluebird B.


Teammate Marc Webber was also in good scoring form with ten tons and a 76 checkout whilst Mike Connell picked up the only 180 of the match.



In what was a topsy-turvy encounter where the lead changed hands five times, Nige Bassett fired the Compton side to the win with the scores tied at 5-5 with a 3-0 success last on.


Two of the top three in the league clashed in a breath-taking contest that produced no fewer than one hundred and thirteen three figure scores shared between Octagon and King Billy in a 7-4 win for the former.



John Mann led the leaders charge with fourteen ton plusses whilst teammate Neil White added thirteen three figure scores of his own.


Quinton Taylor was also in good nick for the reigning champions with twelve ton plusses whilst Lee Hellings added eleven tons and Fred Goldsmith made it a quintet of teammates to reach double figures with ten.



The best of the efforts from the defeated side came from Lee Doncaster who fired eleven tons; one of those being a maximum in the very first rubber.


Mann's first maximum was riposte to that Doncaster 180 whilst in the first doubles game, Antony Hayman made it trio of three treble visits from the first three games in a 2-0 win to give the away side their first point.



Hayman teamed with Paul Palmer in that particular game to claim a 601 leg in just 19 darts before the match result was left on a knife edge at 3-2 to the Stonehouse side going into the singles.


Hayman added a further two maximums in his 3-2 singles win to put his side level before Hellings (25.91) steadied the top team's ship at 4-3 with an 18 darter in an accomplished 3-0 win.



Hellings win contained the sixth maximum of the match before Mann (30.67) fired another in a 3-0 triumph, which contained a brace of 15 dart legs.


Mark Yeoman's 15 darter was in vein has he was downed by Goldsmith 3-1 to give the Octagon an unassailable 6-3 lead before Paul Goundry stepped up against Dave Matthews in another classic.



Goundry won out 3-2 with his 16 dart leg helping him get the better of Matthews who put a 17 darter onto the board in one of the pair he won.


White then rounded off a fine evening with the eighth and final maximum in another 3-2 win that contained legs in 15 and 17 darts to fire his side seven points clear of their rivals in the standings.



Simon Kelly continues to show why he's now a man to be feared as he added thirteen tons in a 6-5 defeat for his Kings Arms B team away at Fawn A.


Kelly's total was topped off by his team's only maximum whilst Bill Scannell added one of his own in a 3-1 defeat to Kelly.



Kelly's 18 dart leg in that victory was matched earlier in the contest by teammate Martyn Down in a 3-0 success before Roger Backway's 3-1 success left the score at 5-5 with one to play.


The highest checkout of the week across all fixtures in the division, a classy 114, was nailed by Backway in that win before Dave Roberts gave his team the point they needed in a 3-0 triumph in the final individuals.



In a clash of the bottom two, Victory picked up their first win of the campaign against Saltram in a 7-4 success that saw Jason Goldsmith add the only maximum of a successful night for the home side.
