To Dare Is To Do

Lewis Dare seems to have found his majestic best form after sixteen tons in Octagon A's Monday Premier League win at home against Bluebird C who were downed 9-2.



Dare's total was accented by a magnificent single visit checkout of 156 that bettered a 106 from teammate Lee Hellings.


Hellings added two 180s to that finish and thirteen more tons to give him the same total as Dare with sixteen three figure scores plundered.



Hellings wasn't the only 180 hitter in the match as Dave Pethick fired a third for the second placed team who showed their undoubted class in all disciplines of the game.


Paul Palmer and Paul Hendy paired for a 20 dart leg over the 601 doubles distance whilst there was a number of brilliant legs from the two star men in the individual phase.



Dare won 3-2 with the help of legs in 17, 18 and 15 darts whilst Hellings got over the line by the same score line with the help of legs in 14 and 16 darts.


The man Hellings defeated, Glenn Austin, put up quite a fight with a leg in 17 darts whilst the Compton side's only winner was Glenn Halford who was consistent all night.



Thirteen tons were put onto the scoreboard by Halford and the last singles rubber of the evening was won 3-0 by Halford with his best coming in just 15 darts.


Former England youth international and multi-time PDC Development Tour winner Keelan Kay returned to darting action in Plymouth when starring in a 7-4 defeat for King Billy away at Cherry Tree A.



Kay fired fifteen three figure scores as well one of the three maximums chalked up by his team with Andrew Cook throwing the other two.


Cook (25.47) was the best individual performer with a 3-0 triumph whilst Kay fell to a 3-2 defeat despite checking legs in 17 and 18 darts against a spirited Paul Freeman.



Freeman's teammate Matt Nicholson led his team to the victory with ten ton plusses overall to make him the highest scoring player for the home side.


John Mann plundered an unbeaten fifteen three figure scores as Tradesmans kept up their relentless march to the title with a 9-2 win over Indian Inn.



Mann was well supported by teammates Jaden Whitting and Lee Agar who shared twenty-two ton plusses equally.


Mann's (30.06) 3-0 individual win contained legs in 18 and 11 darts whilst teammate Andy Bates fired 14 and 13 darters in his win by the same score line.



Fred Goldsmith's 180 was joined by legs in 16 and 18 darts during his 3-1 triumph whilst the best by some distance by the defeated side came from the arm of Harry Bull.


Bull put twelve ton plusses onto the scoreboard including a 154 three dart combination outshot put away in one of the only two points claimed by his side, a doubles win.



The other point came in a narrow singles affair that was eventually won by Bull 3-2 with a crucial 18 dart leg proving to be the difference maker.


Luke Johnson led Victory A to an 8-3 win in the Victory derby match with their C team; a personal performance that contained two legs in 16 darts to go with Johnson's duodectet of three figure scores.



For the defeated team, Phil Hoskin's fine 108 single visit checkout was joined by a maximum from teammate Paul Hoare as the two notable achievement from the designated away side for the evening.


Steve Towl's ten tons were not enough to arrest Colebrook's slide to a 7-4 defeat to Victory B in which Towl also nailed the best leg of 18 darts in a 3-0 triumph.



Nathan Langdon (25.91) showed his class with an accomplished 3-0 win whilst teammate Nick Furneaux completed 91 in a single visit to give him the highest checkout of the contest.


For the victors, Scott Cook's maximum was the only moment of magic produced in the win that keeps the Honicknowle side comfortably in third spot.



Marc Webber's three dart combo of 160 during Cherry Tree B's 7-4 win in their visit to Bluebird A was the best of all fixtures contested in game week 25.


Webber added a 180 to that effort in his 3-0 individual success; a win that also contained a 12 darts as well as coming directly after Webber set a notable high checkout mark of 106.



George Beckett teamed with Dave Lee for a 601 success in 20 darts before the pair both added 18 darters over the 501 format during their respective 3-0 singles wins.


Alan Masters 3-0 win in which his struck the defeated team's only maximum had put his team 4-3 up before a late collapse meant Masters' team fell to the narrow loss.



Checkouts of 148 and 130 from Dale Halford were two of the highlights from Bluebird B's 8-3 triumph over Octagon B.


Paul Barclay's maximum was the only one of it's kind in the match between the two teams, which turned out to be the visitors from Stonehouse's only moment of magic in the contest.
