The Perfect Trim
Mike Trim showed there's life in the old dog yet when firing Fawn A to a 9-2 Plymouth City Super League Division B win at Legends Lounge with eleven scores of a ton or more.
James Nicholls scored almost as heavily as Trim for the defeated team with ten tons and also bagged himself an 89 combination out shot.
Nicholls teammate Simon Wilbraham joined Trim's stablemate Dave Roberts in the 180 column of the sheet whilst Roberts was also clinical at the business end of legs.
Roberts added a 109 three dart checkout to join an 18 dart leg plundered by teammate Dave Pethick during his 3-0 individual win.
A 7-4 win for Cherry Tree D at Kings Arms A was dominated by the scoring of Nick Bryant who led the leaders to a sixteenth success from as many starts with eleven tons.
Two mid range checkouts highlighted the finishing stages of the thirty-one legs played as Bryant's teammate Keith Johnson checked 88 to better a 72 from Pete Dunbar for the defeated home side.
Victoria were 8-3 winners over Duchy B thanks in part to a glut of scoring from Gary Eaton who put ten tons onto the scoreboard.
Tex Pearce added a 180 to his ten ton haul for St Levans, which helped the visitors yield an 8-3 triumph from their trip to Duchy A.
A second maxi from the Keyham outfit was put onto the scoreboard by Harry MacGregor whilst the high checkout honours across both divisions of the Super League was shared between these two teams.
MacGregor's teammate John Sturdy put away 120 in a single only to see that matched by Jack Heath for the defeated home side.
A 10-1 triumph for Cherry Tree B against The Herbert saw Lewis Byrne and Kev Doel turn on the style for the victors' with a 180 and 98 checkout respectively.
Doel's combination out shot was the only effort to better a 74 from Jack Broad for the defeated party in what was just one of four legs put away by the away team.
Three 180s made the difference for Kings Tamerton A in their derby game versus the Kings Tamerton B team as the designated 'home' side for the evening exerted their dominance with a 9-2 win.
Phil Hoyle, Danny Hoyle and Lee Soper all heard '180' called after throwing whilst three ton plus finishes were shared between the two teams.
A 109 from Paul Freeman was the best the 'B' team could offered and Tom Graham's 115 three darter was only bettered by a 119 from Phil Hoyle.
An 80 checkout from Alan Brady was the main highlight of a 6-5 win for Fawn B over Victory that came down to the last possible leg won by Matt Anderson in a 3-2 singles success that came with the scores tied at 5-5.
