Tex Shows Pearce-ing Accuracy Around Treble Bed

Tex Pearce top scored with fifteen three figure scores but still found himself on the wrong end of a defeat as Victory A bested St Levans 9-2 in the Plymouth City Super League.



One of those was his team's only maximum in a 3-2 singles win over Paul Gavican that featured a crucial 14 darter; his team's sole individual point of the entire match.


Pearce had to withstand a 180 and legs of 14 and 15 darts from an inspired Gavican who also reached fourteen ton plusses for his team overall.



Danny Allen was also in good form the victors with twelve tons as a brace of maximums completed that mammoth total.


Allen also added a leg in 13 during his 3-0 singles triumph whilst teammate Matt Chegwin completed the 180 scoring with one of his own.



An 8-3 success for Kings Arms B away at Half Moon saw both Roger Backway and Dave Johns hit twelve tons whilst Paul Carpenter was also in good form with ten three figure scores.


The only noteworthy contribution from the defeated Devonport team came from a 90 checkout from captain Jodie Hawton in her 3-1 singles success.



One of Simon Stevenson's twelve ton plusses came in the form of a 157 high checkout of the week for the Fawn A as they fell to Ker St 6-5 away.


The topsy-turvy matchup featured no fewer than three maximums as Stevenson's teammate Mike Nancholas struck and both Paul Tackle and Pete Lamerton both added an effort each in riposte.



With eight of the first ten games come down to a last leg shootout, it was only fitting that Roger Bailey should win the contest for his team in another tie coming down to a sole leg; winning 3-2 to take the spoils.


Bob Wood added twelve tons to the scoreboard but still found himself on the end of a 6-5 loss as Steampacket defeated Cherry Tree.



Nick Miller's 75 checkout was roundly beaten during the match by John Greatrex's 105 finish whilst Marc Webber added the only maximum and George Beckett added a leg in 17 for the Devonport victors.


Octagon are starting to put some distance between themselves in second and the rest of the chasing pack after another 10-1 win; this time over Bluebird B.



John Mann top scored with eleven tons and won his singles with the help of 15 and 18 dart legs during the 3-0 success.


Neil White was also prominent when reaching double figures in ton plusses and added a pair of 18 dart legs during his 3-1 victory.



White's ton total was accented by an absolute masterclass in finishing with efforts of 111 and 117; the latter claiming the game's highest honours.


Dave Matthews added a leg in 15 in another 3-0 victory for the Stonehouse team whilst Lee Hellings' win by the same score came about thanks in part to a leg in 17.



Bluebird B admirably did take the first point of the game before being blown away after Jon Parsons finished in a single visit from 100.


Despite ending on the wrong side of a heavy defeat, Parsons' teammate Nigel Bassett was also in good form with ten tons overall.



Mark Turner (26.84) is starting to show his form of old after a 3-0 win that contained legs of 17 and 18 darts, which came during a 7-4 win over Clifton for his Victory B team.


Turner's teammate Adam Fell reached ten tons during contest whilst Turner's excellent legs were beaten by Lewis Dare's leg in 16 during his 3-0 individual win.



As the score line suggests, it wasn't anywhere near one way traffic with Dan Jewell checking a leg from 120 and adding an 18 darter during a 3-2 singles triumph.


Wayne Town was also in good form as he helped his team to a couple of the four points thanks in part to a pair of maximums.



Dave Hollow top scored with ten ton plusses during the Colebrook's 6-5 success over Raffles but found himself on the end of a 3-0 drubbing by an inspired Danny Bull.


Bull (26.84) added two maximums and a 90 checkout in his success that contained legs of 17 and 18 darts to hand Hollow his first loss of a fantastic start to his maiden campaign in the competition.



Andy Bond and Damian Chalmers shared two 180s equally during their singles match in which the former came out on top with the help of a leg in 13.


Bond's teammate Darren Smith made it five maximums in the match with his team's second of a well fought contest between two top teams.



Bluebird A retain their spot in third with a 9-2 success over Victory C which saw their talisman Glenn Halford reach double figures in tons.


James Stoodley impressed in a 3-0 singles win with a leg in 14 after hitting his team's only maximum earlier in the contest.



Stoodley's teammate Tony Teal showed his undoubted class with a high checkout of 95 whilst Mark Williams reached ten tons for the defeated team with the help of a 180.


Saltram produced two moments of magic in their 9-2 win over Duchy of Cornwall as Reg Matthews added a maximum to Warren Gordon's 116 checkout.



Alan Brady was in inspired form for the Fawn B but still found himself on the end of a defeat as the Greenbank side were pegged back 7-4 by Victoria.


Brady won a leg in 15 darts and added an 85 checkout and a maximum in his 3-1 individual triumph that helped his team keep the score line respectable.



A 10-1 for leaders and reigning champions King Billy in their visit to King Arms A keeps their lead at the top to a slender four points.


Paddy Archibald won his singles 3-0 with the help of legs in 15 and 18 darts whilst the Cornwall man also out shots of 84 and 100 during the match.



Archibald was also one of three 180 hitters during the match as Antony Hayman (29.47) bagged the other during his 3-0 singles success that was won with a brace of 15 darters.


Mike Sant had to work hard for the Oreston team's only point as he added a maximum on his way to ten tons and a 3-2 singles win.
