Tex Makes St Levans Tick
Five of the ten games in the Steve Chapman 501 League took place due to a clash with the England football match, but that didn't dampen the sustained quality on offer.
Tex Pearce heard scores of a ton or more called no fewer than fifteen times during St Levans 7-4 success over Cherry Tree D.
Harry MacGregor was also prominent in the win with the game's only maximum on his way to ten scores of a ton or more.
A Matt Pearce 116 checkout was only bettered by a 142 combination by Kevin Lofthouse for the defeated visitors with the latter also adding an 18 dart leg in a 3-1 defeat to Tex Pearce.
That aforementioned win saw Pearce check in 17 darts whilst that feat was repeated by Mike Pearce during his 3-0 individual triumph.
Thirteen scores of a ton or more rained down from the arm of Scott Lawrey who ended his night on a Victory A side that won 10-1 win at Indian Inn.
Lawrey was well supported by Paul Goundry who added a further eleven tons whilst three of the four maximums were fired by the victorious side.
Quinton Taylor heard '180' called twice after throwing whilst Kelvin Rowe's effort was joined by 71 and 78 checkouts; the latter confirmed as the best of the match.
Ian Heggie made it four 180s in the game with a solitary maximum for the defeated side before the singles phase that saw three top legs.
Rowe with a 3-0 winner thanks to legs in 15 and 18 darts whilst Goundry checked a solitary leg in 16 darts, which proved crucial in a 3-2 triumph.
King Billy had Frankie Stout in top form with ten ton plusses whilst that measured performance was overshadowed somewhat by some explosive play by teammate Antony Hayman in the 8-3 win over Bar Mez.
Hayman secured the highest checkout of the matches played with a fine 155, and added two maximums as well as a 17 darter in his 3-0 singles win whilst the 180 total was topped up to four by Hayman's stablemates.
Andrew Cook added a three treble visit whilst the other maximum came from the arm of Brandon Hartley in a 3-1 singles success.
Cherry Tree B took full advantage of the leader's Fawn B's lack of game time with an 11-0 win at Duchy to close the gap to three at the top.
Jason Pinkerton and Mike Whatley both plundered ten tons overall with the former adding a 124 checkout to his tally.
Pinkerton's finish was the only effort that bettered a 115 from teammate Paul Gavican whilst Pinkerton's 3-1 success was accented by a leg in 18 darts.
Jayden Dodd and Dave Pethick starred for Octagon in a 10-1 win against Beacon Park with the pair hitting 100 and 113 checkouts respectively.
Dodd added an 18 dart leg in his 3-0 win to his night's work whilst Pethick was one of two 180 hitters for the home side with Steve Daley adding one of his own.
