Stone Cold Tungsten From Austin

Glenn Austin added scores at least three figures during eighteen of his visits to the board for Bluebird A in a 7-4 Monday Premier League loss at Legends Lounge.

The best of Austin's tally was a 180 whilst teammate Dan Hurley also brought the flames in the scoring phase with eleven tons.

Lewis Byrne led the way for the victors' with ten tons whilst his 99 checkout bettered a 97 by teammate Tommy Graham.

Mike Whatley heard scores of a ton or more called no fewer than fifteen times but still found himself on the wrong end of a 7-4 score line as Cherry Tree A were downed by King Billy.

Whatley's teammate Paul Freeman was also in decent nick with thirteen ton plusses but their efforts couldn't curtail the form of the Devonport team.

Paul Goundry and Paul Gavican lit up proceedings for the away side with ten tons each whilst the undoubted performance of the night came from Scott Cook.

Cook got the better of Whatley 3-1 in the individual phase with legs in 14, 16 and 12 giving him the platform to repel Whatley who nailed a leg in 18 in the defeat.

Andrew Cook also showed his class with a 180 and a 17 darter during a 3-1 triumph that was one of four wins in the individual phase for his team.

Lee Hellings fired fourteen scores of a ton or more for Octagon A but still found himself on the wrong end of a derby loss to Tradesmans 8-3.

The victors' charge was led by Mike O'Brien who fired two 100 checkouts on his way to twelve tons whilst teammate Simon Washington ended on ten scores of a ton or more.

Washington added two maximums to his tally whilst Fred Goldsmith also heard '180' called no fewer than two times for the successful home side.

Lee Agar showed his scoring prowess with twelve tons and ending on ten scores of a ton or more was Jaden Whitting in the dominant win for the reigning champs and overwhelming title favourites.

Agar and Paul Hendy played out a decent battle in the first singles as Agar's 17 darter helped him get the better of his rival 3-2.

Hendy checked a leg at the first time of asking from 98 and an 18 dart leg in that contest whilst Goldsmith's 3-0 individual success contained two 18 darters.

Hellings leg in 15 saw him over the line 3-2 against Washington before Whitting put up a 17 darter during his 3-1 triumph.

Darren Collis' return to darts has started like he was never away after thirteen tons came in an 8-3 success for Victory at Indian Inn.

Collis was one of four maximum hitters in the contest as teammates Scott Lawrey, Liam Taylor and Quinton Taylor all also struck.

The latter's 180 helped him to eleven tons whilst Ryan Harris ended his night on ten scores of a ton or more for the away side.

Collis' 118 checkout led the way in the finishing stage of games as Harris' 103 settled for second best to that excellent showing.

Collis also produced magical moments in the individual phase with a 3-1 win that saw him check in 17, 15 and 15 darts.

The top scoring player of the home cohort was Danny Bull who ended his night on eleven scores of a ton or more.

Zak Smith added a 180 on his way to eleven tons during a 6-5 win for Colebrook at Bluebird A that saw Smith's teammate Dan Giles claim the spoils in the final singles rubber.

Giles 3-1 success came with the scores tied at 5-5 whilst the only three treble visit from the defeated team came from the arm of Ryan Stubbs.

Dave Pethick and Chris Edgecombe brought the firepower for Octagon B with ten tons each that saw them over the line with a 7-4 victory over Cherry Tree B.

Pethick's 3-1 defeat to Paul Hoare in the individual phase saw the latter pick up the only two maximums of the match in that excellent display whilst Paul Barclay's 84 checkout couldn't be bettered.
