Stevenson Show Rockets Side's Success
A haul of seventeen scores of a ton or more from Simon Stevenson included one of the three maximums Cornwall Gate added in a 6-5 Plymouth City Super League Division A win over Steampacket.
Other 180s came from the arm of Shaun Dring and Andy Malinowski whilst a 112 combination out shot from Matt Vosper was the best mustered between the two sides.
George Beckett and Luke Johnson brought the heat in the scoring phase for the visitors with twelve and ten tons overall.
Beckett also smashed in a modest but respectable 80 checkout whilst during the individual phase, Beckett, Stevenson and Dring all stood out.
Dring ploughed in a leg in 17 darts during his 3-1 win whilst Beckett's 14 darter proved crucial in deciding his 3-2 triumph over the wily Malinowski.
Stevenson also put away a leg in 14 darts and added a 16 darter to his 3-0 singles success that actually ended up deciding the outcome of the match due to the fact it put his team 6-4 up.
Simon Kelly top scored with sixteen scores of a ton or more but still found himself on the wrong end of a 7-4 loss as Kings Arms B were downed by Bluebird A.
Kelly was supported well by Dave Johns' scoring prowess as Kelly's stablemate reached the ten ton mark thanks in part to a 101 checkout.
Johns' effort had to settle for second best in the contest as Glenn Austin plundered a 123 combination kill on his way to twelve tons for the victors.
Austin also managed a 96 checkout and a leg in 18 darts in a 3-0 singles success whilst sandwiched in the middle of that brilliant finishing was a 111 from Dale Halford.
Glenn Halford added the victor's only maximum whilst the only three treble visit from the defeated side came from the arm of Roger Backway.
Frankie Stout produced thirteen three figure visits to lead Cherry Tree C to a 7-4 success during their visit to Indian B.
Stout was his team's only maximum hitter and was also well supported by Nathan Langdon who nailed eleven tons whilst Dave Hollow ended his night on ten tons.
The top scoring player for the defeated home side was Dan Brazier who added a 180 to his twelve ton plusses whilst a third maximum in the game was plundered by Paul Gavican.
Langdon's 3-0 singles success came with the help of a leg in 16 darts whilst Brazier chalked up a leg in 17 during his 3-0 triumph.
Darren Smith however was the undoubted star of the individual phase as he added legs in 17 and 16 darts to top up his 3-1 triumph.
Nick Miller heard scores of a ton or more called no fewer than twelve times to lead Cherry Tree A to an 8-3 win over Ker St.
Four 180s were shared equally between the two teams with Miller's teammates Dave Lee and Luke Beard both adding to efforts from Ian Heggie and Mike Evans for the defeated side.
Lee showed his class at the business end of legs with what turned out to be a crucial 16 darter during his 3-2 individual triumph.
Lee's teammate Steve Mills also showed his sharpshooting with a brilliant 85 one visit combination checkout, which was the best of all thirty-three finishes in the matchup.
Paddy Archibald and Antony Hayman led King Billy's charge to an 11-0 win over Indian A that saw both men end their evening on eleven scores of a ton or more.
Hayman paired with Tony Tasker to take a 601 leg in just 20 darts whilst teammate Paul Goundry also showed his class at the business end with a 96 checkout.
Eleven tons from both Lee Hellings and John Mann gave Octagon the platform to secure a 10-1 win during their visit to Bluebird B.
Hellings total was propped up by two maximums whilst Mann added a 114 checkout to his undectet of three figure visits.
Mann's checkout bettered a 74 by Owen Cook for the defeated side whilst Hellings' teammate Neil White added a third 180 to his team's big win.
White's three treble visit came in a 2-0 doubles win that came when pairing with Paul Palmer as the duo teamed to claim a 601 leg in just 20 darts.
Palmer carried that form into the singles phase by adding an 18 dart leg to his 3-1 individual triumph, which came before a 17 darter for White in his 3-1 victory.
The leg that Cook took against White came in just 14 darts which was just one of five legs won by the home side.
