Stevenson Rockets In Fawn Win

The joint top scorer in the Plymouth City Super League during game week 28 was Simon Stevenson who led Fawn A to a 7-4 win over Colebrook with thirteen ton plusses.

Stevenson added the match's only 180 to that mammoth total and also hit a 15 dart leg in his 3-0 individual success.

Stevenson's teammate Mark Hempsall showed glimpses of good form with a 110 checkout in a 3-1 personal win.

Tex Pearce was the other thirteen ton hitter for the week but his total wasn't enough for St Levans who came away defeated 7-4 by the Cherry Tree.

Pearce checked a leg in 17 during a 3-0 win whilst Mark Hopkins' 98 checkout was crucial in a 3-2 win during the singles phase.

A third individual win for the Keyham side came with the help of a maximum from John Sturdy; one of three on the night as Nick Miller hit the second and Dave Lee claimed one on his way to ten tons.

Clifton's talisman Wayne Town showed his class with twelve tons during a 10-1 win for the Greenbank team over Duchy B.

Town's 3-0 individual win was put helped along by a leg in 17 whilst Ross Blake's admirable 92 checkout paled into insignificance as Wayne Davis checked a leg with a 134 finish in another 3-0 triumph for the team.

Ben Welsh's remarkable form continued but his eleven tons couldn't stop the Hyde Park from slipping to a 10-1 defeat to King Billy.

Welsh's teammate Mike Trim notched a brace of maximums in the match that was largely dominated by another 180 hitter on the night; Antony Hayman.

Hayman (28.35) put in legs of 17 and 15 darts during a 3-0 singles win and his 86 single visit out shot was the best of all twenty-seven checkouts in the match.

Eleven tons from Mark Shears helped the Victory A to a routine 8-3 win over Ker St; a match that saw 180 called no fewer than four times.

Most prominent of those who contributed was Tom James who netted himself a brace whilst teammate Phil Hoyle added a sole effort.

Ian Heggie's 180 was also joined by the highest checkout across all eleven fixtures played as he checked a fabulous three dart combination of 149.

Danny Bull's eleven tons was the best total from all twelve players on display in Raffles 9-2 win over Duchy A; a total that was propped up by two maximums.

Harry Bull added a third 180 for his team whilst teammate Damian Chalmers 111 checkout in a 3-2 singles win was the biggest of the night.

Four 90+ checkouts lit up another 11-0 win for runaway leaders Octagon in their visit to Victory B with Lee Hellings 95 the fourth best in his 3-0 win.

John Mann (29.47) claimed a 99 checkout and two 15 darters in a 3-0 singles win whilst the first ton plus checkout of the night was provided from the hand of Fred Goldsmith who finished in one visit from 100.

The best of the night though was saved until the last game as Dave Matthews' 126 helped his rally to a 3-1 win that saw him throw a leg in 18 as well as one of three that were put away in just 16 for the team.

Hellings checked one other during his 3-0 win whilst the third recorded came from Alfie Ford in a 3-1 win that saw him bag two maximums on his way to top scoring with ten tons.

Other 18 darters from the dominant Stonehouse team came from Goldsmith in another 3-0 win and Neil White who also won by the same score line.

Adam Fell added his team's only 180 of the match whilst the first of the night came in a 38 dart 1001 pairs win for Mann and Matthews.

Both Roger Backway and Glenn Austin put ten tons onto the scoreboard for their respective teams during a 6-5 win for Backway's Kings Arms B over Austin's Bluebird A.

Backway met Austin in the individual phase with Austin getting the better of his rival after a fine 18 darter contributed to a 3-1 success that levelled the scores at 5-5.

Glenn Halford's 180 and a 100 checkout from Martyn Down provided fireworks in the initial ten ties before Paul Carpenter won the match for his team 3-1 in the final rubber of the match.

Nigel Bassett's ten tons had little bearing on the outcome of the match result as his Bluebird B team were bested by Kings Arms A.

Bassett's teammate Jamie Roberts claimed an 18 darter and a 96 checkout which was only bettered by Chrissie Kinnaird's 116 finish.

Ten tons from George Beckett and Marc Webber helped Steampacket to a 9-2 success over Fawn B who had Mike Bassett finishing 94 in a single visit.

Webber's handsome total was topped up with the only two maximums of the match; a pair that helped his team to two of the nine points won during the evening.

The only noteworthy contribution from both teams in a 6-5 win for Victoria away at Victory C came in the form of a Steve Griffiths 180.
