Smith Takes Crown In Mitchell Memorial

Zak Smith took home the unique and special honour of the winner of the Monday Premier League Charlie Mitchell Memorial Shield at the Indian Inn.

Simon Washington opened the night with a 3-0 win over Dave Reed that contained a leg in 18 darts whilst Harry Bull's run to the final started with a 3-0 triumph over Dan Giles.

Smith won a leg in 16 during his 3-0 first round win over Dave Pethick whilst Mike Whatley also added a 16 darter in his 3-1 success over Chris Edgecombe.

Alec Turner joined lucky recipients of a bye, Danny Bull, Lee Roberts and Alan Rowe, with a 3-2 victory over Dave Wyatt to make up the quarter final.

Harry Bull ended Turner's tilt at the title with a 3-0 win before Whatley did the same to Roberts by the same score line.

Danny Bull started his campaign with a 180 during 3-1 triumph over stablemate Rowe before Washington put up two 17 darters in a 3-2 defeat to eventual champion Smith.

Father and son met in the semis and it did not disappoint as Danny fired a 180 in a 3-1 loss to his son Harry who checked one of three legs he won with a 118 kill.

Smith ended the hopes of Whatley with a 3-0 win before edging Bull in the final, which was a fantastic display by both the younger players.

Bull levelled at 2-2 with a 16 dart leg before Smith made the throw count with an 18 darter to take the treasured prize by a 3-2 score.
