Six Horses In Early Battle For Supremacy
John Mann plundered thirteen ton plusses in his Fawn B team's 9-2 win over Octagon whilst also saw teammate Lee Agar reach ten tons in the Steve Chapman 501 League.
The singles phase of the matchup was littered with a number of phenomenal legs; none more so than an 11 darter from Lewis Dare in his 3-0 win that was followed by one in 17.
Mann checked a leg in 15 to his 3-1 win; a feat matched by Andy Bates who added a 17 darter in a success by three straight legs.
A brace of 17 dart legs from Jaden Whitting helped him towards a 3-0 victory whilst nobody could better a 120 checkout from Lewis Dare finishing wise.
Dare's effort bested a 100 kill from Octagon's Tony Lamerton whilst Lamerton's teammate Alfie Ford had to work hard for his team's only singles success with an 18 dart leg during a 3-0 win.
Ford also made it to twelve three figure scores overall during the contest, which came as welcome relief from an onslaught by the visitors from Greenbank.
Mark Hatherley added twelve ton plusses to the scoreboard but couldn't prevent Indian Inn from falling to a 9-2 defeat against Victory A.
That result owed much to the form of Paul Goundry who reached ten tons and added a 107 checkout and a 15 dart leg to his night's display.
Goundry's leg beat an 18 darter from teammate Paddy Archibald whilst Quinton Taylor, Kelvin Rowe and Tony Tasker all shone with 180s for the victorious team.
Andrew Cook reached eleven three figure scores for the champions King Billy as they downed Victory Hammers 10-1.
Cook (30.67) won his singles 3-0 with legs of 16, 17 and 16 whilst Antony Hayman was also in majestic form as he won by the same score line with the help of 18 and 17 darters.
Alec Turner notched his team's only maximum on his way to ten tons whilst Mark Yeoman and Scott Cook (35.35) paired for a 17 dart 601 leg in their 2-0 success.
The only noteworthy contribution from the Hammers in the game came from a 180 for Kieran Harris on an otherwise difficult night.
A brace of 123 checkouts from Victory C, one each from Mark Shears and Billy Evans, helped Victory C to an 11-0 success over Bar Mez.
Shears top scored with teammate Paul Gavican as the pair reached eleven tons whilst Evans hit two of the four maximums produced by both teams.
Jason Pinkerton added one to that total whilst Lee Rodmell hit the defeated Torpoint outfit's sole effort of the whitewash contest.
Shears also added a 14 dart leg to his evening's work, which was the lowest recorded by any player in the dominant team display.
Kings Arms got their season up and running with a 10-1 win over Victory D which bore witness to a remarkable three maximums from Maria O'Brien for the defeated team.
That mammoth 180 total aided the former World Championship Semi Finalist to legs of 14 and 17 darts in her 3-1 individual success with all three coming in just four legs of 501.
Simon Washington's 113 checkout for the Oreston side was the highest whilst Washington's 15 darter in a 3-0 win was the lowest of anybody in his team.
Dave Johns added a sole maximum for his team as well as a 16 dart leg in another 3-0 win; a feat that was matched by Dave Algar.
Dave Barton's 156 checkout was one of several highlights for the Fawn A who ran out 10-1 winners against Duchy of Cornwall.
That effort usurped a 116 from teammate Mark Hempsall whilst Bill Scannell added ten tons to the scoreboard and Mike Bassett finished a singles leg in just 16 darts during his 3-1 success.
St Levans now lead a close pack of several potential champions after an 11-0 win over Firkin Doghouse that featured a Mike Pearce 92 checkout as it's sole noteworthy contribution.
