Shears Hits 180 Mark Three Times

Mark Shears threw no fewer than three maximums as his King Billy B team won 6-5 away at King Arms in the Steve Chapman 501 League.

Those efforts contributed to twelve three figure scores chalked up by Shears whilst the Devon player also helped himself to two 18 darters and a leg in 16 in a 3-1 singles win.

Shears teammate Scott Wapshott joined the Oreston team's Glyn Wells in reaching eleven tons for the evening overall with Wells adding a maximum and a high checkout of 111 to his total.

Wells added an 18 dart leg; a feat that was matched by teammate Paul Palmer who added a maximum to his 3-0 singles win.

Warren Gordon finished legs in 14 and 16 darts in a 3-0 win that made the score 5-5 before Wapshott ran out a 3-0 winner in the final tie of the night to give the Devonport team the spoils.

Octagon gained a couple of points on King Billy B in the race for second spot thanks to an 8-3 win over Fawn A in which Lee Hellings hit fourteen ton plusses.

That haul included a brace of maximums whilst Dave Pethick chalked up another for the victorious Stonehouse team to make it three on the night.

Jayden Dodd was another standout player with an 18 darter and ten three figure scores; one of which was a 126 highest checkout of the week.

Mike Pearce was at his brilliant best with twelve tons and winning legs of 17,16,17 in his 3-1 win during St Levans 7-4 defeat to Victory A.

One of the aforementioned tons was the only maximum for the Keyham team with Quinton Taylor and Scott Lawrey firing back for the victors.

Their teammate Paul Goundry was prominent with ten tons whilst Tony Tasker's 113 checkout beat a 109 effort from Tex Pearce to take the high finish honours for the contest.

Antony Hayman hit a maximum on his way to ten tons for leaders King Billy A in their 10-1 win over Indian Inn.

Hayman also produced a 15 darter that defeated an effort in 16 by teammate Andrew Cook whilst Louis Yates and Ian Heggie hit a maximum and a 120 checkout respectively for the defeated team.

Lee Rodmell and teammate Neil Reid shared twenty three figure scores equally between them as Torpoint Cons beat Victory B by an 8-3 score.

Rodmell added a maximum with Danny Allen firing the only noteworthy contribution from the defeated Honicknowle team with one of his own.

Fawn B ruthlessly whitewashed Cherry Tree thanks in part to a maximum from Jaden Whitting; a result that sees the Pennycross team drop to the foot of the table.
