Records Tumble For Stevenson

Simon Stevenson produced a record breaking week in the Plymouth City Super League Division A with twenty-three scores of three figures or more coming in a 7-4 defeat for Cornwall Gate at Indian B.

That Stevenson showing marginally bettered twenty-two from Tex Pearce set in 2022 and twelve of those came in a narrow 3-2 singles win over Scott Cook.

Both players added a 17 dart leg each before Stevenson's 13 darter proved crucial in the slender win that saw Cook also manage a leg in 14.

Stevenson wasn't the only star of the show for the defeated team as Andy Malinowski checked two 17 darters on his way to a 3-1 win over Indian's eleven ton hitter Paul Gavican.

Malinowski ended his night on fourteen tons including two of the six 180s that was ploughed home between the two teams.

Gavican added one to that tally in his singles loss whilst teammates Scott Wapshott and Mark Shears added to a solitary effort by Malinowski's stablemate Shaun Dring.

Gavican walked away from the oche with a respectable twelve tons whilst Shears three treble visit ticked his ton tally over to the ten mark.

Wapshott finished on fourteen tons himself and edged Matt Vosper 3-2 in spite of a 17 dart leg for the latter whilst a 3-1 win for Ant Pearn over Col Maddocks produced the only two ton plus checkouts of the match.

Pearn's 107 saw him to eleven tons but that three figure out was bettered by Maddocks' 116 that was the best of all thirty-five finishes in the enthralling contest that saw seven games decided by a solitary chalk mark.

Normally a twenty ton haul would grab you headlines, but that phenomenal display from Lee Hellings in Octagon's 9-2 win over Ker St was somewhat overshadowed by the aforementioned performance.

Hellings' tally would've stopped at eighteen if it wasn't for his team's only maximum and the highest checkout of the match; a 118 combination.

Hellings was supported well in the defeat by Paul Palmer who ended his night with an admirable thirteen tons whilst John Mann topped up his ton total to eleven.

The only noteworthy moment for the defeated visitors from Devonport was a 180 from Roger Bailey in what was a tough evening all around.

Kev Seal produced twelve tons for Clifton but still found himself on the wrong end of a 9-2 loss as the home side were downed by Cherry Tree A.

Three 180s anchored that win as Nick Miller's single maximum was added to twice by Quinton Taylor who also put on a 15 darter in his 3-0 individual success.

A Dale Halford game week high checkout of 126 contributed to Bluebird A exerting their derby day dominance over Bluebird B by an 8-3 score line.

That was the only finish to better a 100 checkout by teammate James Stoodley whilst the best of the designated away side in the finish stakes came from the arm of Owen Cook with a 79 kill.

Glenn Halford showed his class with a 180 and an 18 dart leg coming in a 3-0 singles win whilst Stoodley's 17 darter helped him to a 3-1 success.

'180' was called no fewer than five times as Cherry Tree C pipped Kings Arms B by an 8-3 score line but it was the visitors that claimed the most maximums.

Dave Johns two three treble visits were added to once more by teammate Roger Backway whilst Frankie Stout and Dan Jewell put up the home side's maxis.

A 75 checkout from Darren Smith gave him the high checkout honours for his cohort whilst Martyn Down's 72 was narrowly bettered.

Down's teammate Paul Carpenter also shone in the finish stage of games as he put away a leg in 18 darts during his 3-1 individual loss to Steve Towl.

Steampacket might've plundered all three of the 180s, but they still managed to fall to a 9-2 defeat at the hands of Indian Inn.

George Beckett's brace of maximums was added to by teammate Marc Webber whilst the main highlight for the away side came from the arm of Danny Bull.

Bull expertly put away the three dart combination out shot of 120 whilst the best finish of the six home players came in the form of a 71 by Beckett.
