Preen Performance Keeps Cherry On Top

Stan Preen fired an unbeaten twelve ton plusses for Cherry Tree D in a Plymouth City Super League Division B win at Legends Lounge by an 8-3 score line.

Preen's teammate Nick Bryant was also prominent for the leaders with eleven tons whilst the score line certainly didn't reflect the power scoring by the home side.

Lewis Dare top scored with twelve tons whilst Sean Burkitt and Jacob Bentham both ended a disappointing night for the defeated team with ten scores of a ton or more.

Bentham's tally was propped up by the only maximum of the game whilst Dare fired a 118 checkout to tick his total up to the duodectet level.

That narrowly bettered a 116 by Keith Carter for the victorious visitors whilst the individual phase was lit up by three magnificent legs.

Bryant added a leg in 16 during his 3-0 singles win before Preen won his only leg in a 3-1 defeat to Bentham in an individual game that saw Bentham hear 'game shot' after throwing 15 darts in one of his trio of legs.

Fletcher Stephens led Duchy A to their biggest win of the campaign as they overcame the Herbert 10-1 as the Stonehouse side rocketed to just outside the top half in the early standings.

Stephens eleven tons was unbeaten whilst teammate Jordan Heath added a 180 in a doubles game that saw him and partner Stephens net a 601 leg in 18 darts.

Ryan Ring was also prominent for the victors as his 97 checkout was the best of all thirty-one finishes that were plunderer between the two teams.

Ten tons from John Sturdy proved there is more to the St Levans teams than the Pearce family, but that performance wasn't enough to stop the Keyham outfit from falling to a 7-4 defeat at Victoria.

Victoria's Seth Thompson added the best checkout across both divisions of the Super League with a 134 kill that bettered a 95 by Sturdy's teammate Ian Duncan.

Steve Williams also had his finishing boots on for the Plymstock outfit with checkouts of 73 and 81 in a decent win for the second placed team whilst Sturdy added an 80 combination to his evening's work.

A 6-5 win for Kings Tamerton A over Fawn A came down to the very last possible leg with Phil Hoyle running out a 3-2 winner in the final singles with the scores tied at 5-5.

Hoyle added what turned out to be a crucial 81 checkout for his team in that five leg win whilst two maximums were plundered by teammate Danny Hoyle.

Those 180s came in a 3-1 singles success that also contained a 15 dart leg whilst the best checkout of the matchup was plundered by Reg Matthews for the defeated team with a 103 three dart combination out.

Fawn B's strong start to the new season saw them claim their fourth win with a 6-5 success over Kings Tamerton B that contained a 95 checkout by Steve Dobson.

Matt Nicholson bettered that finish with a 112 for the defeated team whilst his teammate Carla Blacker put up the only maximum of the game.

A 180 from Kev Doel and an 80 checkout by Tony Reid were not enough to stop Victory from defeating Cherry Tree B by a 6-5 score line.

Dany Phythian's 3-2 win in the final matchup of Kings Arms A's 6-5 win over Hyde Park was enough to separate the two teams.

The only checkout in the match for the defeated side to beat a 76 by Ben Welsh was an 80 from the arm of Lee Dennis.
