Pearce Goes Mike The Clappers

The Steve Chapman 501 League was once again lit up by the exploits of Mike Pearce who starred in a 6-5 success for St Levans at Bar Mez.

Pearce (30.06) was a 3-0 individual winner with two 17 dart legs joined by one in 16 in a triumph that saw him add a 180 to his twelve ton haul.

Hayley Brant was the other 180 hitter for the visitors whilst Scott Town was the only home player to hear '180' called after throwing.

Tex Pearce checked in 18, 17 and 16 for a 3-1 win and came away with eleven tons overall whilst Town's teammate Lee Rodmell showed moments of genuis with regularity.

Rodmell's 112 checkout topped up a ten ton personal tally and his 3-0 individual success was accented by a leg in 18 darts.

Scott Lawrey's night ended with him top scoring for Victory A with fifteen tons during an 8-3 win at Kings Arms who also had Paul Palmer in equally sparkling form.

Palmer's fifteen three figure score tally included his team's only maximum whilst Lawrey's teammates Paul Goundry and Tony Tasker both added three treble visits.

Kelvin Rowe contributed to the Victory's triumph with ten tons whilst Paddy Archibald heard 'game shot' at the first time of asking from 102.

Dave Johns was almost as impressive as teammate Palmer with fourteen ton plusses whilst Palmer's 16 darter in a 3-2 defeat to Rowe was only bettered by a 15 dart leg by Goundry during his 3-0 win.

Scores of at least one hundred were called fourteen times for both Jason Pinkerton and Scott Wapshott in a 10-1 demolition job by second placed Cherry Tree B versus Victory Fireballs.

Three of the four maximums were ploughed home by Cherry Tree players as Pinkerton's effort was added to by Mike Whatley and Paul Gavican.

AJ Brunton lived up to his famous name as the son of the great Al Brunton with a maximum of his own whilst teammate Neal Walters put up the most resistance for the defeated team with twelve scores of a ton or more.

The two cherries on top of Nick Miller's ten ton haul in a 10-1 win for Cherry Tree C at Ivybridge CC were a 105 checkout and the game's only maximum.

Fawn B extended their seemingly insurmountable lead at the top to fourteen with an 11-0 win over Indian; a match that saw five players reach ten tons.

John Mann led the way with eleven scores of a ton or more whilst teammates Lee Agar, Simon Washington and Fred Goldsmith all ended with ten tons.

Washington's tally was propped up by the highest of three ton plus checkouts in the match with his 130 also taking the weekly prize for the league.

Goldsmith added a 120 kill and a maximum to his ton total whilst teammate Luke Johnson was also a 180 hitter to go alongside his 116 three dart combination.

Mark Hatherley put up the most resistance in the scoring stakes for the defeated team with ten tons of his own whilst there was a smattering of short legs in the singles phase.

Mann was a 3-1 winner thanks in part to a leg in 14 whilst Goldsmith repeated that feat in his 3-1 win and added another in 18 against Ian Heggie who checked his consolation leg in 16 darts.

Agar anchored the individual phase and brought home his 3-0 win with the help of an 18 dart leg of his own to round off a dominant display.

King Billy were 7-4 winners at Tradesmans with Antony Hayman dominating the scoring phase thanks to eleven ton plusses overall.

Teammate Andrew Cook also walked away with eleven tons whilst 180s were plundered on three occasions throughout the match.

Scott Cook and Frankie Stout added to Rob May's maximum whilst May's teammate Mitchell Grimshaw ended his night on ten tons overall to prove it certainly wasn't all one way traffic.

Reece Day has his finishing boots on with checkouts of 127 and 110 put away in three darts whilst Hayman's 3-1 individual loss to Lewis Byrne saw a 14 darter for the defeated former.

A close fought encounter between Victory Hammers and Fawn A came down to a last leg shootout that was won by Kieran Harris 3-2 to claim a 6-5 win for the Honicknowle outfit.

The best checkout of the match proved to be crucial in deciding the outcome of the closely fought contest as Harris added a 103 combination out shot in that five leg thriller.

Kieran wasn't the only Harris who showed his class as Cobie Harris continued his impressive form with a 3-0 win that contained an 18 darter.

Harris' teammate Lee O'Mahony did most of the running in the scoring phase of play with ten tons whilst that tally was matched by Mike Bassett for the defeated team.

Jayden Dodd ended his night on ten tons overall, which led Octagon to an 8-3 win during this visit to Cherry Tree D.

The 180s in the match were shared equally between the two teams as Dodd's teammate Dave Pethick fired one in riposte to a maximum by Jacob Bentham.

At the business end of legs, Martin Pearson's 90 checkout in a 3-1 win couldn't be beaten whilst Alfie Ford's 16 darter in 3-1 victory was the best leg of 501 in the contest.

Dan Brazier and Luke Beard's heroic ten tons each led Cherry Tree A to a 9-2 win in their local derby with Beacon Park.

Beard's tally was propped up by one of the two maximums with teammate Simon Wilbraham also adding a three treble visit.

Beau Carter was far and away the best performer for the defeated side with ten tons whilst teammate Jason Smout checked 105 in a single visit for the best kill of the match.

Duchy's third win of the twenty-two game old campaign came in a final leg shootout 3-2 win for Jordan Heath to give his team a 6-5 success at Bluebird.

Heath's stablemate Fletcher Stephens added a 92 single visit checkout whilst Alan Masters added the game's only maximum for the defeated team.
