Pearce Fires But Cherry On Top

Two of the top three in the Plymouth City Super League Division B clashed as leaders Cherry Tree D narrowly retained their unbeaten start to the season with a 6-5 win over St Levans.

Tex Pearce was the star of the show for the defeated team with fourteen scores of a ton or more whilst the best scoring exploits for the home side came from the arm of Nick Bryant.

Bryant heard scores of a ton or more called no fewer than twelve times and added the highest checkout of 96 to his list of notable moments.

That effort bettered a 74 combination by Anna Pearce whilst Keith Carter supported Bryant well with ten tons overall.

Stan Preen showed his undoubted class with a brace of maximums and the Pennycross outfit took two notable legs that ended up decided the fate of the bragging rights.

Bryant and Arthur Pearce teamed for a 19 dart 601 leg that helped them to a 2-1 doubles win whilst Carter's 17 darter proved crucial in a 3-2 individual win that gave the title favourites an unassailable 6-4 lead.

Victoria had Mick Bingham steer their 7-4 win at Legends Lounge in the right direction as he put on twelve tons including the biggest divisional checkout of the week.

Bingham's 136 was the only effort to better a 72 by James Ewing for the defeated side whilst Ewing's teammate Simon Wilbraham was the only player to hear '180' called after throwing.

Rob Wills was the shining light for the Duchy A, but his ten tons couldn't arrest his team's slide to the narrowest of 6-5 losses at Hyde Park.

Lee Dennis fired a 75 combination out shot for the victorious team in a match that saw seven of the eleven ties decided by a solitary leg.

Three 180s lit up a 9-2 win for Fawn A at Herbert as Tom Green fired solitary effort for the defeated side to go alongside one each from Mark Hempsall and Dave Roberts.

Green added an 80 checkout to his night's work whilst Roberts' 3-0 individual success was accented by a brace of 17 dart legs.

180s from Chris Beale and AJ Brunton provided the ammunition for Victory to claim a 9-2 win over Kings Tamerton B.

A 6-5 win for Kings Tamerton A at Kings Arms A saw both teams walk away from the oche with a player that checked 92 in a single visit as Danny Phythian matched Danny Hoyle's effort.

Mike Sant was the only player to put up a score of 180 whilst Phil Hoyle added a 17 dart leg in his 3-1 individual success whilst biggest winners of the week were Cherry Tree B with a 10-1 success at Duchy B.
