Paul Hauls Big Fish

The Plymouth City Super League has seen the highest possible finish thrown for the second time this season as Paul Palmer checked the magical 170 in an 8-3 win for King Billy over Kings Arms A.

That effort came in a beautifully crafted 3-0 singles win in which Palmer (26.36) also checked a leg in 18 darts; a leg that was only bettered by a Paul Goundry 15 darter in his 3-0 success.

Goundry also helped himself to one of three more ton plus finishes as he nailed a 116 checkout in the very same individual game, whilst Dave Yeoman checked 100 in a double success.

Mark Yeoman (25.41) was at something like his best with a 3-0 individual win that also saw him finish from the 100 mark in a single visit.

Yeoman also paired with Lee Doncaster (27.81) for a 36 dart 1001 game that saw the latter hit the match's only maximum.

Antony Hayman was also prominent in the success for the Devonport side with eleven ton plusses individually but fell 3-1 in the singles to Pete Down who checked a leg in 17.

Wayne Town produced a stunning display that included fifteen three figure scores in Clifton's 6-5 triumph over Victory B.

One of those was a 100 checkout that proved to be crucial in a 3-2 singles success over Sean Burkitt that also included a leg in 18 darts.

Burkitt rounded off a ten ton display with a brace of maximums in that narrow defeat whilst there was two other checkouts of notes with Heather Toney and Andy Pengelly putting away 91 and 86 respectively.

Warren Gordon top scored in Saltram's 8-3 success over Duchy A with twelve tons and also joined Reg Matthews in checking a leg in 16 darts during their 3-0 and 3-1 wins individually.

Victory A had Paul Gavican in good form in an 8-3 win over St Levans as he ploughed in twelve tons whilst Phil Hoyle's 115 was the best checkout of the routine win.

Steam Packet's Marc Webber top scored with eleven tons and a 74 checkout in an 8-3 win away win over Cherry Tree.

Despite ending on the wrong side of a defeat, Dave Lee and Melvyn German were still in good form as they checked 18 and 17 dart legs in their singles.

Glenn Halford was once again Bluebird A's highest scoring player with eleven ton plusses in a 9-2 success at Victory C.

Halford's teammate Lee Roberts checked the highest finish of the contest with a 108 finish whilst Jason Goldsmith was the best performer for the Honicknowle side with ten tons.

A ten ton haul that included his team's only maximum from Mark Hempsall led Fawn A to a 7-4 win over Ker St, who had Ralph Lancaster providing the other 180 of the match.

Hempsall won his individual game 3-0 with a 17 darter whilst teammate Dave Roberts 108 checkout helped him to another triumph by the same score line.

James Ewing was Raffles biggest scorer with ten tons in a 6-5 defeat to Colebrook with one of those three figure efforts coming in the form of a maximum.

Two more 180s went the way of the Mutley team as Ewing's teammates Danny and Harry Bull both added a solitary three treble visit.

Dave Hollow provided the Plympton side's only noteworthy contribution with a 17 dart leg in a 3-0 win whilst Ewing also took the high checkout honours with a 96 single visit kill.

Ten tons from Dale Halford, including a magnificent 160 checkout, couldn't arrest Bluebird B's slide to a 9-2 defeat to champions elect Octagon.

Halford's finish bettered a 150 from Lee Hellings for the Stonehouse side who also added one of two maximums; teammate Neil White with the other.

The highest scoring player for the runaway leaders was John Mann with ten tons overall whilst there was two notable legs in the individual phase.

Hellings joined teammate and captain Fred Goldsmith in adding 15 darters in their respective 3-0 and 3-1 wins on the night.

An 81 checkout from Mark Sargeant was the main moment of brilliance in a fourth win of the season for Fawn B as the Greenbank team succeeded 6-5 at Victoria.

Roger Backway provided two of the three moments of magic for Kings B in a 10-1 success over Duchy B with a 116 checkout and a maximum going his way.

Backway's teammate Martyn Down also showed his class with a solitary 17 darter in an individual triumph that was put away 3-1.
