Octagon Denied Despite Palmer Brammer
Paul Palmer produced fifteen three figure scores in the Monday Premier League clash of last year's top two that finished 7-4 to reigning champions Tradesmans over Palmer's Octagon A.
Palmer's teammate Alfie Ford finished with ten tons overall whilst four of the home side's men also reached double figures in three figure scores.
Mike O'Brien's thirteen ton plusses was matched by teammate Jaden Whitting whilst Simon Washington and John Mann both added eleven tons to demonstrate the leader's superiority over their rivals.
Mann's total was topped up by a high checkout of 115 whilst Washington added a maximum to his tally to join Lee Hellings' three treble visit for the runners-up of last season.
Mann (28.90) won 3-0 with the help of legs in 17 and 16 darts whilst Hellings was one of only two singles winners for the defeated side; a 14 darter Hellings' best in his 3-0 success.
Twelve tons from Harry Bull led Indian to a famous 8-3 success over King Billy B who had Scott Cook firing eleven three figure scores in riposte.
Bull was well supported in the triumph by Lee Wyatt who nailed ten tons overall whilst Wyatt was one of four 180 hitters in the match.
Wyatt joined teammate Danny Bull in achieving that particular feat whilst Cook and Paul Gavican were the other two men to put three treble efforts onto the scoreboard to make it two a piece for each side.
Two of that quartet came in an epic encounter between Danny Bull and Cook that finished 3-2 to the former as a 16 darter from Bull became crucial in repelling Cook who himself added legs in 13 and 16 darts in defeat.
Andy Bond will count himself extremely unlucky to finish on the wrong side of Colebrook's 6-5 defeat to King Billy A after hearing scores of a ton or more being called twelve times throughout the contest.
Bond wasn't the only member of the Plympton roster to have his scoring boots on as Zak Smith fired eleven tons and Dan Giles put ten tons onto the scoreboard.
Giles tally included a 124 checkout and one of the two maximums in the matchup as Andrew Cook chalked up the other for the victors.
Top scorer for the Devonport side was Antony Hayman with eleven tons; the last of those hit during a 3-0 singles win that contained a 13 darter.
Giles 3-1 individual triumph contained his team's best leg of 16 darts whilst Kev Lofthouse levelled the game at 5-5 with the help of his 18 darter in a 3-1 win.
That left his teammate Cook with the opportunity to take the spoils in a match that his team had been down in twice, with Cook duly delivering 3-0 to take the sixth point for his side.
A closely fought Cherry Tree derby match between A and B saw a member of each side finish on ten tons for their endeavours.
Beckett, who finished on the right side of the 6-5 win, was the B team's hero whilst Mike Whatley added a dectet of three figure scores for the nominated away side, the A team.
Beckett's tally was topped up by a 108 checkout whilst Whatley would've been stranded on eight tons if not for his two maximums.
Tony Reid fired the victors only 180 in the first singles before Marc Webber steered his side home with an accomplished 3-1 win in the final rubber played with the scores tied at 5-5.
Luke Johnson fired an unbeaten ten tons including one of the four 180s in the match as Victory defeated Bluebird B 6-5.
Johnson's teammate Tony Tasker added two maximums whilst the solitary 180 from the defeated Compton side came from the arm of Damian Chalmers.
Checkouts of 87 from Stuart Couling and 96 from Dale Halford couldn't arrest Bluebird A's slide to a 6-5 defeat at Octagon B as Chris Edgcumbe won the winning point 3-0 with the scores tied at 5-5.
