Nothing Reg-ular About Matthews

Reg Matthews fired the best checkout of the Plymouth City Super League Division B season so far with a whopping 167 for Fawn B, who were 9-2 winners over Hyde Park.

Lee Dennis' 80 kill for the defeated team had to settle for second best to that mammoth combination; that effort coming in a 2-1 doubles defeat which saw Dave Roberts and Mark Hempsall combine well.

The pair netted themselves what turned out to be a crucial 23 dart 601 leg whilst there was a player from each cohort that left the oche with ten tons to their name.

Dennis' stablemate Bob Wood performed admirably with a dectet of three figure scores whilst Mike Trim was the main aggressor on the scoring front for the victorious home side with ten of his own.

Colin Sloman dominated the tons with twelve three figure visits to lead Kings Arms A to a 9-2 win in their trip to Herbert.

Pete Down also showed his class with a 180 and a leg in 16 darts during his 3-0 singles win that was one of five for the victorious visitors from Oreston.

St Levans had Tex Pearce in good form with a twelve ton personal haul that included a 116 checkout to aid his team's battle to a 7-4 win over Legends Lounge.

Pearce showed his class in a 3-0 singles win that contained that aforementioned checkout as well as a 15 dart leg.

Anna Pearce also nailed a 15 darter during her 3-0 individual success whilst Jacob Bentham and Simon Wilbraham produced flames for the defeated team.

Bentham's 97 checkout had to settle for second best in the match whilst Wilbraham added a maximum to his evening's work.

Leaders Cherry Tree D continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 6-5 success over Victoria that was steered home by Phil Lambie with a 3-0 win during the final singles.

Keith Carter led the scoring for Lambie's team with an eleven ton tally that including a 109 checkout, which was the best of the thirty-three finishes in the enthralling encounter.

That Carter effort bettered a 90 from Seth Thompson for the defeated team whilst Carter's teammate Nick Bryant was almost equally prolific in the scoring phase as his teammate.

Bryant added the only maximum of the contest to his ten ton total and also bagged himself a 15 dart leg during a 3-0 singles win.

Duchy B got their season up and running at the thirteenth time of asking with a 7-4 win over Kings Tamerton B, for whom Paul Freeman netted a 17 dart leg in a 3-0 win to go alongside his ten tons and a 73 checkout.

Jack Heath fired a 104 checkout for Duchy A which helped his side recover from 6-1 down to settle for a 6-5 defeat at the hands of Kings Tamerton A.

Phil Hoyle's 180 for the visitors was the main moment of magic amongst the six that turned out for the promotion chasers who lost ground in that race after making a decent start.

Heather Toney's 180 was scant consolation for Cherry Tree B who suffered a 7-4 home loss against fellow mid-table side Fawn B.
