Main Mann Helps Champs Sign Off With Win

Fawn B's Steve Chapman 501 League title winning season was signed off with a 10-1 win over stablemates Fawn A in which John Mann fired fifteen ton plusses.

Two 180s accented Mann's night, with those efforts joined by maximums from teammates Lee Agar and Andy Bates.

Bates added twelve more three figure scores to his 180 to top thirteen overall whilst Agar also made it to double figures for ton plusses.

Agar's 100 finish was only bettered by a 118 checkout from teammate Fred Goldsmith whilst there was a number of short legs throughout the match.

Five of the seven came in an epic encounter between Mann and Mike Bassett in which world class darts finished in six visits or less rained down.

Mann was a 3-2 winner with his winning legs of 11, 15 and 16 providing the perfect retort to Bassett's 16 and 18 darters.

Two more 18 dart legs were nailed in the match as Goldsmith and Bates both won 3-0 with the help of solitary legs in six completed visits to the board.

Lewis Dare stole the show in Cherry Tree's 7-4 win at Duchy with a beautifully crafted thirteen ton plus haul that contained one of three maximums in the match.

Dare's teammate James Ewing fired his team's other whilst Rob Wills was the man from the Stonehouse side to hear 180 called after throwing.

Jason Pinkerton added an unbeaten thirteen three figure scores, including two of the five 180s, to lead Victory C to a 9-2 success over Ker St.

Other 180 hitters were Scott Wapshott and Mark Shears for the victors whilst Lewis Byrne added his team's only maximum.

Pinkerton had to settle for second best in the finishing stakes as his 109 was roundly bettered by a magnificent 156 from Phil Hoyle.

Pinkerton's 3-0 individual triumph contained the best legs of 501 in the match with 15 and 16 darters that pushed Billy Evans leg in 18 during his 3-1 triumph into third best for the evening.

The man Evans got the better of in that singles rubber, Jordan Grimshaw, was the star man for the Ker St with eleven tons of his own.

Four marksmen in the Victory A's 8-3 win over Octagon reached twelve tons plusses, including Simon Washington, who did so with three maximums included.

Teammates Alfie Ford and Jayden Dodd both repeated their teammate's feat in the defeat whilst Quinton Taylor was the twelve ton man for the Honicknowle side.

Taylor was also the main responsible for his team's only maximum and was well supported in the win by Kelvin Rowe who put eleven tons onto the scoreboard.

Robbie Bisgrove finished on eleven three figure scores during a match that saw eight of the eleven ties won by a single leg, with the majority going against Bisgrove's Stonehouse colleagues.

Paul Goundry completed a sectet of players who reached double figures for tons with ten of his own whilst there was two outstanding players in the individual phase of play.

A 16 darter for Kelvin Rowe helped him to a 3-2 success whilst Scott Lawrey (27.83) fired legs in 17 and 18 darts to take a 3-0 individual success.

The best leg of 601 was provided by Rowe and partner Paddy Archibald who put together a fine 17 darter during their 2-0 doubles win.

Ian Heggie's eleven ton haul gave Indian the platform to take a 6-5 win in their home match against Bar Mez, with Heggie's tally ticked over to that mark by a maximum.

Paul Tackle the visitor's only 180 and checked 112 in a single visit to claim one of the three ton plus checkouts in the match.

Tackle's effort was sandwiched between a 107 from teammate Scott Town and the highest checkout of the match from Heggie's stablemate Mark Hatherley whose three dart combo of 115 was the best of the trio.

King Billy were 8-3 winners over Victory Hammers thanks in part to Scott Cook's contribution of ten three figure scores.

The 180s were shared equally amongst the two teams with young guns Frankie Stout and Cleo Trelease providing the firepower.

A 160 checkout from Trelease's teammate Kieran Harris was the best of the week's play whilst there was three 17 dart legs in the game.

Andrew Cook was a 3-0 winner with one of those trio whilst Frankie Stout repeated the feat during his individual success by the same score line.

Antony Hayman netted the third leg in 17 that followed an 18 darter during another 3-0 singles success that helped the Devonport side pile on the points.

Mike Pearce's 149 checkout was one of several moments of magic during a 7-4 win for St Levans in a visit to Kings Arms.

Pearce added one of the three maximums in the match as Anna Pearce joined her teammate in achieving that feat.

Dave Algar was the only player for the Oreston outfit to hear '180' called after throwing whilst there was two decent legs of 501 thrown in the singles.

Reg Matthews was a 3-1 winner with the help of a leg in 18 whilst Mike Pearce also checked in six completed visits for an 18 darter of his own during his 3-0 success.
