Lee's Spree Unable To Make Rod For Octagon's Back
Lee Rodmell heard scores of a ton or more called no fewer than fifteen times but still found himself on the wrong side of a 6-5 defeat as Bar Mez were downed by Octagon in the final individual tie.
Rodmell put three maximums onto the scoreboard whilst the 180s from the visitors came from Robbie Bisgrove and Jayden Dodd.
Rodmell's teammate Paul Tackle was also in top form with fourteen tons whilst Bisgrove added nine more tons to his tally to reach double figures for the matchup.
Dodd was defeated 3-2 in the singles despite checking a leg in 16 whilst Rodmell left the game on a knife edge after his 3-2 success in game ten that made it 5-5 thanks in part to legs in 18 and 17.
However, Bisgrove had the last laugh as he ran out a 3-0 winner to give the Stonehouse based outfit the spoils of a closely fought encounter.
Andrew Cook's thirteen tons provided the catalyst for King Billy to come out 11-0 winners over Ivybridge Con Club.
Cook's tally was propped up by checkouts of 116 and 100, which both came at the tail end of 15 dart legs in his 3-0 success.
Cook also teamed well with Rhys Julian and George Jones (34.83) who together added an 801 trebles leg in just 23 darts.
Julian then paired with teammate Reece Day to put together a fine 601 doubles leg in 18 darts that was finished off by a Julian 108 single visit out shot.
Cook and Jones (28.62) dominated their doubles affair with a 2-0 win that contained legs in 19 and 23 whilst Jones joined Scott Cook in being the only players to hit a maximum in the assertive win.
Alan Masters fired an unbeaten thirteen tons for Bluebird as they overcame Victory Fireballs 8-3 in a game that saw the 180s stats result in a similarly one sided affair.
Masters' two maximums were added to by teammate Jack McMinn's solitary effort whilst Phil Ingram was the only 180 hitter for the defeated team.
Reigning champions, Fawn B, continued their strong start to the campaign with a 9-2 triumph over Victory A thanks in part to two thirteen ton hauls.
Fred Goldsmith joined teammate Jaden Whitting in hitting that mark whilst Paul Goundry also reached that figure for the defeated team.
Andy Bates was also prominent for the standout favourites for the title once again as he put ten tons onto the scoreboard.
The cherry on top of Bates tally was a 128 checkout that was the highest of the match whilst there was six 180s shared equally between the two sides.
Whitting added a brace of maximums to go alongside Simon Washington's solitary effort whilst Quinton Taylor provided a duo of his own to join Alex Roach's effort.
Washington and Bates teamed well in the 601 doubles as they won 2-0 with their best leg of that particulart tie coming in just 17 darts.
In the individual phase, Whitting was a 3-2 winner thanks to what turned out to be a crucial 18 darter against Roach who added a 17 darter of his own.
Agar's leg in 16 was enough to stop him from slipping to a 3-1 defeat whilst John Mann won out 3-0 with a 17 darter ticking his leg total along nicely.
Goldsmith repeated Mann's feat by adding a 17 darter of his own, which turned out to be much more crucial in a 3-2 success.
Dan Brazier's twelve tons helped Cherry Tree A to a 6-5 success over pub rivals the Cherry Tree D; a clash that brought both drama and high class action in equal measure.
Four maximums were nailed in the match as Jacob Bentham's brace for the defeated side was countered by James Ewing and Luke Beard efforts.
Ewing's (26.84) 180 came in a 3-0 win that was helped along by a brace of maximums whilst the highest checkout of both the match and season so far went to Chris Harper's 152 in a 3-2 singles win.
In the other Cherry Tree derby match, the C team's Lewis Dare fired twelve tons but that couldn't arrest the designated away outfit's slump to a 6-5 defeat to a talented B side.
Mark Shears and Danny Allen provided the firepower for the victors with ten tons each whilst there was four maximums shared between the two teams.
Billy Evans and Jason Pinkerton added to efforts from Lee Hellings and Melvyn German whilst the best legs all came in the 601 double format.
Evans teamed with Scott Wapshott to put together a doubles leg in just 20 darts whilst Dare and Hellings (32.49) were 2-0 winners thanks to 601 legs in 20 and 17.
Anna Pearce was joint top scorer in St Levans 7-4 success over Tradesmans with Tex Pearce adding a 180 to his dectet of three figure scores.
