Kev's Seal Draws Approval

It was a birthday to remember for Kev Seal who nailed a 147 checkout on his big day during a Plymouth City Super League Division A clash that ended in a 6-5 defeat for Seal's Clifton at Bluebird A.

That was one of eleven scores of a ton or more Seal plundered on the night to lead the away side's charge alongside Niall McGarvey who also ended his night on eleven three figure visits.

Neil Holder also showed his class in the singles phase with a 16 dart leg but unfortunately fell 3-1 to Glenn Halford who himself added a 72 combination out that was the best his cohort could manage.

Eventually, the Greenbank side's resolve was broken by the home team's eleven ton man, Dale Halford, who claimed a 16 dart leg during his 3-1 win that came when playing last with the scored tied at 5-5.

Halford was supported well throughout the match by Lee Roberts who added ten scores of a ton or more throughout the event.

Antony Hayman's star shone brightest for King Billy in a Devonport derby win for King Billy at Ker St that saw Hayman (30.67) win 3-0 with legs in 14, 17 and 18 proving the difference.

Hayman's 86 checkout bettered a 76 by Paul Tackle from the defeated side whilst the only maximum of the contest came from the arm of Hayman's teammate Paul Goundry.

Simon Stevenson produced a world class darting display for Cornwall Gate to lead his team to a 6-5 win at Indian A.

Stevenson's (29.47) 3-0 individual success came with three 17 dart legs in a row and he walked away with twenty scores of a ton or more across the evening.

Stevenson's 106 combination out shot helped him and partner Dan Bunney to a 2-1 doubles win but that wasn't the best checkout of the game.

Matt Vosper's 114 kill bettered that effort and that was one of thirteen ton plusses added to the scoreboard by Vosper in the game.

Vosper added an 18 dart leg in his individual game but came unstuck to Mark Hatherley who added nine of his fifteen scores of a ton or more during that 3-2 success.

Hatherley's teammate Harry Bull also had his scoring boots on with twelve scores of a ton or more throughout the contest.

Bull also added a 14 darter in his 3-0 singles success and also checked 76 in just one visit to the board for his team's best finish of the contest.

The only maximum of the matchup went the way for the narrowly defeated team as Lisa Hellings heard '180' called after throwing.

The overall contest saw Cornwall Gate surrender leads of 3-1 and 5-3 before Andy Malinowski held his nerve to finally put the game to bed with a 3-0 individual triumph.

Fred Goldsmith added a remarkable nineteen scores of a ton or more for Octagon but still found himself on the wrong end of the leaders' first loss of the season as Indian B were 6-5 better than their opponents.

The champions elect's modus operandi is to hit the opposition hard early on in matches, but it was the away side that used this tactic when taking what turned out to be an unassailable 4-0 lead.

Ant Pearn added the first of five 180s in the match during a 2-1 doubles win when pairing with Mark Shears, in which the duet put away 601 points in 20 and 19 darts.

Scott Cook and Mike Whatley made it 4-0 with a 2-1 win that contained legs in 20 and 24 darts over the same distance.

A 101 checkout from Neil White in a 2-0 doubles win with Paul Palmer helped the Stonehouse outfit score their first point before the individual phase was lit up by a talented duodectet.

Thirteen ton hitter Lee Hellings was a 3-1 winner over Pearn, who ended on ten tons overall, with Hellings cause helped by legs in 14 and 18 darts and a 180.

Palmer fell 3-1 to Shears as both individuals added ten tons each to the affair whilst the victory was accented by Shears' leg in 15 darts and a maximum.

John Mann and Cook met in a excellent matchup that was won by Mann 3-2, which saw no leg reach beyond 19 darts.

Mann checked two 17 darters whilst Cook was unlucky to lose with a leg in 14 his best of the clash between two Cornwall county A team players.

Mann ended that match and his night on eighteen scores of a ton or more, including a 180, and Cook more than contributed to the match with twelve three figure visits that also included a maxi.

Goldsmith was up next with legs in 16 and 18 darts giving him the platform to claim a 3-1 win over Whatley who himself added a leg in 16 and twelve tons throughout the contest.

With the score line now standing at 5-4, Scott Wapshott added an 83 checkout and withstood a 17 dart leg from Alfie Ford to claim a 3-2 win and the spoils for his team.

White's 18 darter contributed to a 3-1 win that made the score a respectable 5-6 with his night also ending with a total of eleven tons.

Simon Washington's thirteen scores of a ton or more including one of the five maximums between Washington's Bluebird B and the Steampacket who won out 7-4.

The leader in the scoring phase for the victorious home side was Luke Johnson who put up two maximums on his way to eleven tons.

Johnson's teammate George Beckett put on ten tons himself and haul included a third 180 for his team whilst Washington's stablemate Jon Parsons was also the recipient of a '180' call after throwing.

Beckett's checkout of 92 was the best mustered between the twelve players on display whilst Marc Webber played his supporting role well with ten tons of his own.
