Keep Calm When Harry's On
The prodigious talent that is Harry Bull once again lit up the Plymouth City Super League with fifteen three figure scores for Raffles in a 7-4 defeat at Victory B.
Two 17 darters from the remarkable young man enabled him to get over the line in a 3-2 success over Scott Hutchinson who was one of two prominent players for the home side.
Hutchinson's ten ton haul, which included one of two 180s for his team, was only bettered by Lewis Dare who was in his usual blistering form.
Dare added a 120 checkout to ten more tons to peak at eleven for the evening, whilst the Devon man also added an 18 dart leg in a 3-0 triumph.
Danny Bull was a 3-2 winner thanks to a leg in 17 against Sean Burkitt who checked 114 in a single visit for one of the two he triumphed in.
Heather Toney banged in a maximum for the second of the match for her team whilst Eddie Bull fired the only three treble visit of the game for the defeated Mutley side.
The talismanic Simon Stevenson led the way for the Fawn A with fourteen tons that helped the Greenbank side to a 7-4 success over Bluebird B.
Stevenson's teammate Mark Hempsall checked 120 for the highest finish whilst Dale Halford was the most prominent performer for the defeated team with twelve three figure scores.
After suffering their first defeat of the thirty-four week old campaign last time out, Octagon got back on track with a 10-1 success over Victory C.
Lee Hellings led that particular charge with thirteen tons and was well supported by Fred Goldsmith and Neil White who added twelve and eleven three figure scores respectively.
Hellings and White both bagged a brace of maximums whilst teammate Alfie Ford added a fifth for the leaders, as well as a 108 checkout that was the best recorded.
Hellings and Ford (28.60) paired for the best 1001 success of the game with a 35 dart doubles whilst the singles was opened up with a 3-0 win for Ford that contained a 15 darter.
White then claimed a 15 dart leg of his own in a 3-1 triumph over Mark Williams who struck his team's only maximum in the defeat.
Goldsmith (25.26) bagged the best leg of the match with a 14 darter in a 3-1 win over Victory's eleven ton man Quinton Taylor who checked his solitary leg in 18.
Hellings was a 3-0 winner thanks in part to a 17 dart leg whilst Dave Matthews (24.64) steady performer in his success by the same score line.
Paul Palmer led the way for King Billy with thirteen three figure scores as his team pretty much sealed second place with an 8-3 success over third in the standings Victory A.
Palmer was well supported by Paddy Archibald, Geoff Heath and Antony Hayman who all added ten tons each to the scoreboard.
The tip of Archibald's iceberg was a 130 checkout, which claimed the highest checkout of the match whilst Hayman and Heath were both 180 hitters.
Despite the heavily weighted score line, it wasn't all one way traffic with Danny Allen firing thirteen tons and Cameron Pickard finding three figures on ten occasions.
The game was also peppered with short legs with Heath finding the first 15 darter in his 3-0 win before Allen provided a crucial leg in 17 in a 3-2 success.
Palmer won 3-0 thanks in part to the second 15 dart leg of the match before Matt Chegwin pushed Hayman all the way; eventually losing out 3-2 despite netting a leg in 17.
Colebrook were 8-3 winners over Victoria with the best of the Plympton bunch being Dave Hollow who nailed eleven tons and a leg in 14 darts in a 3-0 success.
Hollow's teammate Steve Hiscox claimed the only maximum of the match in another 3-0 triumph whilst Gary Eaton's 97 checkout provided the visitors with their only moment of magic.
A fine outing from Mike Bassett, who added eleven tons to the scoreboard, anchored an 8-3 success over Kings A from Fawn B who continue their recent spate of good form.
Bassett checked 62 and 105 in the match and also withstood a 180 from Mike Sant in a 3-0 singles triumph that contained a leg in 18.
Sant was one of three maximum hitters for the defeated team as Darran Bailey was also joined by Pete Down in achieving the feat; Down's coming in a 3-0 single win that saw a leg put away in just 12 darts.
Kings B faired slightly better than their stablemates but still fell to a 6-5 defeat at Clifton, in spite of Roger Backway's ten tons.
Most of the good notable moments came from the defeated team with Rob Oak joining Dave Johns in hitting a maximum.
Paul Carpenter checked an 18 dart leg with a 98 checkout for the best of the match in a 3-1 defeat before Dan Jewell bested Johns 3-0 with the scores tied at 5-5 to claim the win.
Jacob Bentham's 136 checkout claimed the prize for the best of the week across all fixtures, but that wasn't enough to arrest Hyde Park's slide to a 9-2 defeat at Cherry Tree.
Bentham's teammate Ben Welsh provided the best leg of the match with an 18 darter in a 3-1 win whilst the 180s in the match were shared as both Lee Dennis and John Greatrex achieved the feat.
Ralph Lancaster's 119 finish was the best of five combination out shots between Ker St and Steampacket; the latter winning 6-5.
That effort bested a 76 from the victor's Phil Taylor and a 90 from Taylor's teammate Mike Connell in 3-1 and 3-2 wins respectively.
Lancaster's teammate Roger Bailey nailed an 88 checkout in the aforementioned defeat to Taylor whilst Lancaster himself added a 78 kill to go with his three figure effort.
Ian Heggie provided the only leg of note in the match with an 18 darter accenting his 3-1 win whilst George Beckett found a maximum in his 3-0 singles success.
Glenn Austin's 18 darter and a 118 checkout from Glenn Halford were the best of Bluebird A's 10-1 success over Duchy A.
Mark Lyons 100 checkout and the only maximum of the match from Paul Hendy gave Saltram the platform to come away with a 10-1 win at Duchy B.
