Johnson Rocks Mainstone With Checkout Brace

Two 92 checkouts by Keith Johnson helped Lugger B continue their strong start to the new season with a 7-4 success over Mainstone A in the Plymouth Open League Division A.

Reigning champions and favourites for the title again Beacon Park put last season's closest rivals to the sword in an 8-3 win.

Phil Hoyle, Danny Hoyle, Stan Preen and Nick Bryant put up 180s for the leaders whilst Bryant's 72 checkout was the best combination out shot of the matchup.

Aaron Wells 180 gave him the platform to win 2-0 to give his Ker St C side a 6-5 success over St Johnston B in the final tie of the match whilst Ty Carthy also chalked a three treble visit for the victors.

Two 180s by Jordan Angear were joined by another from teammate Lee Medway in an 8-3 win for Fortescue over Prince Maurice that also saw Cody Rees Williams firing a 90 checkout.

St Johnston A were 7-4 winners at Prince Maurice FC who had Jez Sanderson checking 70 in two darts on the bull and both Legends Lounge OGs and Cherry Tree B were 7-4 winners over Fawn A and Lugger A.

Pennycross had Lee Pare hitting an 18 dart leg and Mike Parker checking 78 in a single visit to help them towards a 9-2 win over St Levans.

A topsy-turvy affair between Weston Mill Oak Villa and Falstaff was eventually won on the very last possible leg by Ralph Lancaster to give the former a 6-5 win over the latter.

Alex Brown starred for the defeated team with an 18 dart leg that came in one of only three games out of the eleven to be decided by more than one leg.

In Division B, Mitchell Grimshaw fired a 180 to go alongside a 100 checkout by Keenan Grimshaw in an 11-0 Devonport derby win for Ker St over King Billy B.

A maximum by Dan Nixon lit up Cherry Tree A's 8-3 win over Ker St A whilst Oliver Swaby repeated that feat during a 6-5 win for Agaton when visiting Bluebird.

A combination out shot of 94 lit up Weston Mill Hotel's 8-3 win at Mainstone B whilst a 180 from Ben Webb gave King Billy A the ammunition to claim a 6-5 win over Fawn B.

Legends Lounge B were 6-5 winners versus Albemarle, Herbert succeeded 6-5 against Duchy whilst Cherry Tree C were 7-4 victors over Shakespeare and Kings Arms enjoyed the same score in a visit to Tap & Barrel.
