John Major Average Lights Up Champs Title Charge

John Mann's (30.60) fine performed for Steve Chapman 501 League leaders Fawn B in their top of the table clash against Cherry Tree B was the standout of a 6-5 win for the Mann's title favourites.

Mann checked in 18, 15 and 17 darts to blow away his individual opponent 3-0 and finished his evening with a twelve ton haul that included one of the three maximums between the two teams.

Teammate Fred Goldsmith added to Mann's three treble visit with one of his own whilst Jason Pinkerton was the only member of the home cohort to hear '180' called after throwing.

Pinkerton's teammate Mike Whatley top scored for the defeated team with ten tons whilst a 16 darter from Mark Shears set him on his way to a 3-1 win against Goldsmith.

Tex Pearce (27.33) was the best performer for St Levans in their 8-3 victory during a visit to Victory Fireballs with legs in 16 and 18 darts accenting his 3-0 singles win.

Pearce finished his night on twelve tons overall whilst Anna Pearce showed finishing prowess like no other in the game week with a 132 checkout that took the high checkout honours for the week across all fixtures.

Neil White added two 180s for the visitors to join one by AJ Brunton who added that in a fine 3-2 win over Mike Pearce.

That effort allowed Brunton to end as the home side's top scorer after narrowly bettering a ten ton haul by teammate Chris Beale.

Ian Heggie (25.05) produced the best average of Indian Inn's 8-3 success over Victory Hammers in a 3-0 singles win of his own.

Lee Rodmell ended his night on fourteen tons but couldn't arrest Bar Mez' slide to a 9-2 loss at the hands of Kings Arms.

Rodmell's ton tally was propped up by one of the five maximums in the match with teammate Kev Dudbridge added two more to the quintet to ensure the home side at least outgunned their opponents in 180s.

Rodmell was also supported well in the scoring phase by Paul Tackle who added ten tons to the scoreboard whilst the maximums from the opposition came from the arms of Paul Palmer and Dave Johns.

A three pronged attack was led by the aforementioned pair, plus Reg Matthews who between them shared thirty-three ton plusses.

Heroics in the finishing section of legs started with a 91 checkout by Paul Palmer before Johns and teammate Mark Yeoman put together a 601 leg in just 20 darts.

Yeoman's 104 checkout eventually bettered Palmer's effort before Johns was a 3-0 winner in the singles thanks in part to a leg in 17 darts and Palmer repeated that feat during his 3-0 win.

Dan Brazier put thirteen scores of a ton or more onto the scoreboard for Cherry Tree A to lead them to a 9-2 success at Fawn A.

Brazier's tally was topped by by one of the three maximums his team plundered in the match as teammates Luke Beard and James Ewing joined that particular party.

Brazier's show of skills was not curtailed to the scoring phase as a 75 game high checkout was joined by a 17 dart 601 leg that was mustered by Brazier and teammate Will Broome in the pairs.

Brazier also added two 18 dart legs during a 3-0 individual success whilst teammate Simon Wilbraham made it a hat-trick of 18 darters for his team during a 3-1 triumph.

The best quality provided by the defeated team came from Liam Taylor who finished his evening with ten tons overall.

Jack McMinn showed his scoring prowess with thirteen tons, but his efforts were in vain as Bluebird were downed by Victory A by a 9-2 score line.

Paul Goundry's scoring led the way for the away side as his ten tons gave him the honour of top scoring amongst his sextet.

All three 180s went the way of the visitors also as Jason Goldsmith's brace was added to by a solitary effort by teammate Tony Tasker.

Goundry also starred in the individual phase of play with a 3-0 success that saw him check in 18 and 16 darts to carry himself to a fine win.

The closest of contests between Cherry Tree C and King Billy was decided by Lee Hellings' 3-1 win during a 6-5 success that came down to the last singles.

Hellings added 14 and 17 darters in that affair and finished his night on thirteen tons; a total that was ticked over to that tally by two of seven 180s in the match.

Nick Miller added one of those three treble visits to his eleven ton total whilst Steve Mills ended on ten tons for his night's work.

A checkout of 72 also gave Mills the best finish of the matchup whilst other 180s for the hosts came from Nick Bryant and Dave Lee.

Lee won a leg in 13 darts against Antony Hayman with the latter taking a 3-1 success thanks to one of his two maximums he added.

Hayman top scored with thirteen scores of a ton or more whilst Scott Cook netted a 17 darter that proved crucial in a 3-2 individual triumph over Mills.

Ten tons from Rob May helped Tradesmans recover from deficits of 4-1 and 6-2 to eventually only lose 6-5 at home against Cherry Tree D.

May's teammate Nick Bromley outdid Lewis Byrne with two 180s to Byrne's one whilst Byrne showed his finishing prowess with a 100 checkout in a 3-1 singles win.

An 11-0 win in a Stonehouse derby for Octagon at neighbours Duchy saw Robbie Bisgrove add a 180 to teammate Chris Edgecombe's 70 checkout.

The leg Beth Falconer won against Edgecombe in the singles phase during a 3-1 reversal came after a combination out shot of 83 for the defeated party.

Beacon Park were 10-1 winners over Ivybridge CC with highlights coming from Jason Smout, Beau Carter and Ashley Evens who added a 95 finish, 180 and 17 dart leg respectively.
