Hayman's Haymakers Catalyst For Billy Bonanza

An unbeaten fourteen three figure scores was fired by Antony Hayman to lead King Billy to a 9-2 success over Bluebird B in the Plymouth City Super League Division A.



Hayman's (26.83) excellent form wasn't curtailed to just the scoring phase of play as he contributed a 17 darter in his fine 3-0 singles success.


Teammate Paul Goundry was also in good nick with a 17 dart leg of his own during his 3-1 success that also included two of the three maximums from the Devonport outfit.



Lee Rodmell contributed the other three treble visit in another 3-1 triumph whilst the high checkout honours was shared by two players.


The man Rodmell defeated, Nigel Bassett, added a 100 checkout in the solitary leg he won whilst Rodmell's stablemate, Paddy Archibald, also fired 100 in a single visit.



That Archibald checkout was one of eleven three figure efforts plundered by the former Cornwall county marksman.


Another eleven ton hitter in the match was Dale Halford who added an undectet of three figure scores despite ending on the wrong end of a heavy defeat.



No fewer than seven of the twelve on display reached at least ten scores of a ton or more during a high quality 9-2 win for Octagon at Bluebird A.


Lee Hellings and Fred Goldsmith shared honours of top scoring player with thirteen tons each whist the trio of Alfie Ford, John Mann and Neil White all reached ten ton plusses each.



For the defeated Compton side, Jack McMinn was the heaviest scorer with twelve tons whilst Glenn Halford chipped in eleven tons overall.


Four of the one hundred and one three figure scores in the match were maximums as Mann's brace of 180s was added to by solitary efforts from Goldsmith and teammate Quinton Taylor.



Mann's (27.72) maximums both came in a fine 3-0 success that contained a 501 leg in 12 whilst Goldsmith contributed his in a doubles win that was claimed in a 601 doubles leg with White that was won in just 17 darts.


Goldsmith was also narrowly beaten to the highest checkout of the night with his 100 finish playing second fiddle to Ford's fine 111 three dart combo.



Scott Cook fired two of the remarkable seven maximums that Legends Lounge netted in a 9-2 triumph over Fawn A.


Those 180s added two of the twelve tons Cook fired in the match whilst teammate Ant Pearn added a maximum to his twelve ton personal haul.



Mark Shears added two more maximums whilst a single effort each from Paul Gavican and Dan Brazier completed the septet.


Brazier was in fine fettle at the business end of legs as his 126 checkout in a doubles rubber was added to in the singles by legs in 17 and 14 darts.



That finish bettered an 80 from Gavican whilst other notable legs came from Cook in 17 during his 3-0 win and a 15 darter by Shears in a narrow 3-2 defeat.


The top individual player in the league, Dave Roberts, made it seven wins from seven starts with an 18 darter during his 3-0 win and also finished the evening on eleven ton plusses overall.



A 7-4 win for the Cherry Tree A over Steampacket was dominated by the scoring of James Hughes who nailed twelve ton plusses overall.


Teammate Nick Miller added a 120, his team's only maximum, and a 15 darter all in the same 3-1 individual success.



George Beckett provided the main resistance to the second placed side as he put ten tons onto the scoreboard included a pair of maximums.


Beckett's (33.40) three dart average broke the 100 mark as his oblitorated his opponent in 15, 16 and 14 darts for a 3-0 success.



There was an eleven ton hitter on each side as Dave Hollow added to Mark Lyons total of the same number in an 8-3 home win for Hollow's Colebrook at home to Lyons' Saltram.


The other main highlight of the matchup came from the arm of Reg Matthews who checked 161 in a single visit to match the man he beat, James Ewing's highest checkout of the season so far.



In Division B, the league continues to be dominated by Cornwall Gates and particularly, Simon Stevenson, who added fourteen three figure scores in a 9-2 success over St Levans.


Stevenson was once again supported well by Andy Malinowski who fired thirteen ton plusses in the win whilst teammate Lewis Dare's 131 checkout wasn't bettered in the match or across all six fixtures in the division.



Despite ending on the wrong side of a heavy defeat, the Keyham side still had time to put all three of the game's maximums onto the scoreboard as Anna Pearce, Tex Pearce and Harry McGregor all struck.


An 11-0 success for Clifton at home to Hyde Park was dominated by Wayne Town who added a 126 checkout to his eleven ton personal tally.



That finish came in a 3-1 individual success that also contained two legs that were claimed in six completed visits for a duo of 18 darters.


Victoria inflicted just second defeat of the season onto Fawn B as Steve Williams netted ten tons during a 6-5 success.



Mark Sargeant put up the main resistance for the defeated side with an 80 checkout and what turned out to be a crucial 17 darter in a 3-2 success.


Williams' teammates Aaron Wright and Gary Eaton both added maximums whilst Eaton's 16 darter during a 3-0 success bettered Wright's leg in 18 in another win without loss.



Duchy A claim their first win of the seven week old campaign as they defeated Cherry Tree B 7-4 in a match that had several highlights, including Tony Reid's maximum.


That effort was matched by Tony Pike in a 3-1 win for Pike over Reid that also contained an 18 darter for the latter.



Paul Hoare's 106 finish had to settle for second best as Jordan Heath added a 122 three dart kill whilst Heath's teammate Ryan Ring also showed his finishing form.


Ring's 3-0 individual success was ticked over by admirable single visit checkouts of 82 and 84; a win that gave the Stonehouse side their sixth and winning point of the night.



Kings Arms A were narrow 6-5 winners in a visit to Kings Tamerton with Mike Sant's 100 checkout providing the best of the thirty-two finished in the match.


The first maximum came from Lee Soper in a singles win that made it 5-5 before Pete Down fired one in riposte during the final tie of the night, which aided him to a 3-0 success to give the visitors the spoils.



Ker St kept themselves well within touching distance of the leading group with an 11-0 home triumph over Duchy B that keeps them as one of only two undefeated sides in the league.
