Goundry's Excellence Shows No Boundary

A new high checkout for the season the Steve Chapman 501 League was reached as Paul Goundry nailed a 167 checkout in a 10-1 success for Victory A at home to Indian Inn.

Goundry was in good form all evening as he added one of his team's four maximums during the match, and won his singles 3-0 with the help of a 17 darter.

Scott Lawrey also showed his undoubted class with a maximum and a leg in 14 in a 3-0 win; the best of the match which beat a 16 darter from Quinton Taylor.

Taylor followed that leg with another in 18 and also added a maximum in another 3-0 triumph for his team with the fourth 180 of the tie coming from Kelvin Rowe.

Dave Matthews led the way in the scoring stakes for Fawn B with thirteen tons during an 11-0 whitewash of Octagon.

Fred Goldsmith and Andy Bates both added twelve tons for their evening's work with the pair also hitting a maximum each; two of four the team hit during the contest.

The other two came from the ever reliable arm of John Mann who nailed a brace of maximums on an otherwise quiet night for three time Champion of Champions.

Lee Agar's eleven tons were accented by a high finish of 130 whilst there was also a glut of well finished game on the night for the league's leaders.

Matthews and Bates (31.63) paired in a 601 doubles game that was demolished in just 19 darts for the best leg over that discipline.

Singles wise, Goldsmith (26.84) was arguably the man of the match with a 3-0 win that contained a 17 darter; one of three legs won in the same number of darts during the match.

Bates returned to the board in the singles phase to check two legs in 17 in his 3-1 success whilst those were bettered by a Jaden Whitting 16 darter in his 3-0 success.

Agar also produced a moment of magic during his 3-0 success with an 18 dart leg to round off a successful evening for his team.

Despite ending on the wrong side of a drubbing, the immovable object that is Ralph Lancaster managed to reach ten tons for the night whilst teammate Nik Dodd helped himself to his team's only 180.

This result, coupled with only a 7-4 win for Victory C in their visit to Bar Mez has severely dented the Honicknowle side's chances of toppling the Fawn B in the league.

Both Billy Evans and Paul Gavican shared the title of their team's top scorer as they both managed twelve tons each.

Evans' total was tipped by a fabulous 142 checkout that helped him towards a 3-2 singles win that saw both him and his opponent, Ken Stovell, check a leg in just 18 darts.

A flame was also lit underneath Danny Allen as he threw a 180 amongst a total of eleven tons; one of three for the title chasers.

Jason Pinkerton added the other two, which lined up alongside eight more three figure scores to give him a nice round total of ten.

Paul Tackle was in good form for the defeated team with ten tons whilst Scott Town's admirable 107 checkout was another highlight for the Torpoint based side.

Antony Hayman bagged himself a pair of maximums and a 96 checkout in a 9-2 for King Billy over Victory Hammers.

Those 180s were two of twelve three figure scores for the former Devon and Cornwall man with Scott Cook also adding a maximum of his own during the one sided contest.

Kings Arms were big winners this week as they took all eleven points on offer against Victory D with Dave Algar and Dave Johns providing the moments of magic in the form of a 126 checkout and 180 respectively.

One of just three legs won on the night by the Honicknowle team was coolly finished by Trafford Clevett in a single visit from 104.

Fawn A cemented their middle table standing with a 9-2 success in their away match with Duchy Of Cornwall whilst St Levans took all points on offer against Firkin Doghouse.
