Five Maximums For Magic Mike

Mike Pearce stunned onlookers as he ploughed in no fewer than five 180s for his St Levans team who went down 8-3 to Fawn B in what was quite a spectacle in the Steve Chapman 501 League.

Those magnificent efforts added to ten more three figure scores gave Pearce a quite brilliant fifteen three figure scores for the contest as a whole.

Three of the five maximums were all hit in a 3-2 singles defeat which saw Pearce take his winning legs in 18 and 14 darts.

The man that defeated Pearce at something like his absolute best, Danny Bull, did so with a 180 of his own as well as a leg in 17 darts.

Next highest scoring player for the defeated Keyham team, Tex Pearce, bagged a brace of 180s on his way to twelve ton plusses and also won his singles 3-1 with thanks to a leg in 13 darts.

A third member of the Pearce family, Matt Pearce, reached double figures in tons but fell to fellow youngster and new member of the Cornwall county squad, Jaden Whitting, 3-2 in the singles phase.

Whitting won two of three legs taken in 18 and 16 darts, which was enough to help him over the line against his equally inexperienced opponent.

Lee Agar top scored for the Greenbank team with twelve tons that included a brace of maximums whilst Jodie Hawton got over the line against her Devon teammate, Shaun Dring, 3-2 thanks to a 180 and an 18 darter.

Agar also paired with teammate Bull to put away a 601 doubles leg in just 21 darts whilst Neil White was also impressive with eleven tons overall a leg in 14 in his 3-2 win.

Alfie Ford top scored with fourteen three figure scores for Octagon in a narrow 6-5 defeat at Torpoint Cons that means Octagon will have to almost certainly settle for fourth in the end of season standings.

Lewis Dare was almost as equally impressive with thirteen three figure scores for the defeated team whilst teammate Dave Pethick checked 120 in three darts in his 3-0 singles win.

Lee Rodmell was the best of the Cornwall based team with ten tons that included a 106 checkout whilst teammate Paul Tackle managed the contest's only maximum.

Champions King Billy A signed off their season with a superb 11-0 whitewash of Cherry Tree in which Andrew Cook scored twelve ton plusses.

Cook picked up a leg in 17 darts in his 3-0 singles success which was one of two during the contest as Antony Hayman notched himself one in a 3-2 win.

Hayman also added eleven three figure scores across the entire match whilst teammate Alec Turner managed double figures himself.

The league's individual champion who leads the way by a massive 18 points, John Mann, was also his dominant self thanks to eleven tons that featured the highest checkout of the match; a 116 kill.

That finish beat a 102 combination outshot from Steve Ebsworth whilst Mann added a brace of maximums to that brilliant display and won his singles 3-0 thanks to legs of 18 and 15 darts.

The only noteworthy contribution of a difficult outing for the league's second bottom team was a maximum in a 3-0 singles defeat for Marc Webber.

Victory A had Tony Tasker in vintage form once again as he reached ten tons that included a 102 checkout in an 8-3 win over Fawn A that saw Darren Collis put the only 180 on the scoreboard.

Mark Sargeant's brilliant 139 three dart combination finish beat the Tasker effort and gave the defeated Greenbank team the high checkout of the wee honours across all fixtures.

Warren Gordon contributed a 106 checkout for Kings Arms in a double figures win for the Oreston team over Indian Inn that ended 10-1 to the former.

King Billy B took all points on offer from their encounter with Victory B that saw Mark Shears check 95 in a single visit for the victorious team.
