Five Leg Success Not Simple For Simon

Fourteen tons from Simon Washington provided the spark for Octagon's 9-2 victory over Indian in the Steve Chapman 501 League.

Washington headlined a trio of teammates that reached double figures as Jayden Dodd put twelve tons onto the scoreboard whilst Robbie Bisgrove heard scores of a ton or more called eleven times after throwing.

The most entertaining matchup of the evening saw Washington clash with fellow fourteen ton hitter Mark Hatherley; the former running out an eventual 3-2 winner.

With the scores tied at 2-2, Washington finally got the better of his opponent with a 15 darter that was checked at the first time of asking from 116, which was both the best finish and leg of the contest overall.

John Mann's thirteen scores of a ton or more led runaway leaders and title favourites Fawn B to a 7-4 win over Victory A.

Mann was supported well in the endeavour by Fred Goldsmith who added eleven tons and Jaden Whitting who put ten tons onto the scoreboard.

Goldsmith's total was accented by two maximums whilst Whitting added a third 180 for his team; a tally matched by the defeated home side.

Paddy Archibald added a solitary effort for the Honicknowle team whilst Scott Lawrey's eleven three figure score haul was ticked over to that total with a 180 of his own.

Tony Tasker wouldn't have made it to the magical double figure mark in tons without the help of his maximum whilst there was three ton plus checkouts in the match.

Kelvin Rowe's 100 had to settle for third best as Lawrey's 127 was narrowly bettered by Mann's (26.37) 130 checkout in his 3-0 individual win that also contained a leg in 18.

Goldsmith added the two best legs over the 501 distance with 15 and 16 darters in a 3-1 win whilst a 601 doubles win for teammates Andy Bates and Lee Agar came in just 21 darts.

Mike Pearce top scored with thirteen ton plusses in a 9-2 win for St Levans in their visit to Ker St that also saw his brother Tex Pearce make the headlines for the visitors.

A finish you'd usually associate with snooker was the crowning glory in Tex Pearce's twelve ton tally as he nailed a 147 checkout to claim the highest finish of the week across all fixtures.

Pearce also added an 18 dart leg, which was crucial in a 3-2 singles win that also saw Pearce match the 180 scored earlier in the individual phase by Nick Bromley for the defeated side.

Antony Hayman's brace of maximums added to his twelve ton total that lead the King Billy to a 9-2 win over Fawn A.

Andrew Cook also added two 180s of his own in the win, whilst at the business end of legs Zak Burden was amongst the most clinical.

Burden's checkout of 92 was only bettered by his own 93 finish and his 3-0 singles win was topped off by an 18 dart leg.

The only two legs better than Burden's effort came in a 3-0 triumph for Hayman who heard game shot called after just 16 and 17 darts.

Simon Kelly's ten tons lit up an entertaining 7-4 win for Kings Arms over Cherry Tree, for whom Dave Lee also nailed a dectet of three figure scores.

The cherry on top of Lee's beautifully crafted total was the only two maximums in the match whilst Chrissie Kinnaird fired a 95 finish that was best of any of the thirty-one checkouts in the game.

Kelly's 17 dart leg in his 3-1 success bettered the four legs that were claimed in 18 darts; the first of which was polished off by Danny Perryman in a 3-1 win of his own.

Lee also won by the same score line with the help of a leg in six completed visits whilst teammate Luke Beard repeated the feat in another 3-1 triumph.

Dave Johns (25.47) added the fourth and final 18 darter of the night in his 3-0 win that yielded the best winning average of the contest.

Two Nick Miller maximums and a 15 dart leg in a 3-1 success for Lee O'Mahony did the damage for Victory Hammers as they triumphed 8-3 in a visit to Duchy.
