Dan The Man For Cherry Tree

Dan Brazier netted himself sixteen tons but still found himself on the wrong side of a 6-5 defeat for Cherry Tree to Bar Mez in the Steve Chapman 501 League.

Brazier was well supported by James Ewing was also producing his best with eleven three figure scores which had to settle for second best for the Pennycross side.

That's because Danny Perryman ploughed in a brilliant personal haul of fourteen three figure scores; the trio still not able to contribute to a win.

The 180s in the match made the difference in the score line as the visitors from Torpoint had all three of Scott Town, Tom Full and Mike Bulmer hitting a three treble visit.

Lee Rodmell's 15 darter in a 3-0 win was the best of the match; bettering a leg in 16 in a 3-1 win for Brazier and Bulmer's 18 darter in a 3-2 loss; one of eight to be deciding by a single leg.

Bulmer added a 100 checkout to his maximum to end on twelve ton haul whilst Paul Tackle added eleven three figure scores in the match for the victors.

The top two clashed at the Fawn with the Fawn B demolishing their title rivals Victory C 10-1 in an outstanding spectacle that was lit up by Jaden Whitting's fourteen three figure scores.

Whitting was well supported in the win by Lee Agar who checked 140 for the highest checkout of the week on his way to thirteen tons; beating his own 111 and a 110 from Whitting.

Andy Bates (30.06) also contributed heavily with eleven tons; dispatching his singles 3-0 with the help of legs in 18, 18 and 14 darts.

That average was only beaten on the night by something truly remarkable from Victory's Mark Shears who threw eight perfect darts in his 3-0 win.

Shears' third leg saw back to back maximums followed by the treble twenty and treble nineteen, before missing the double twelve for a moment of history with only one 9 darter ever being hit since the league was formed.

Shears (31.97) had to settle on a leg in 11 and added another in 17 during a 3-0 win that came after Shears had hit a maximum in a doubles defeat to take his 180 scoring to three.

The man he defeated in that amazing effort in the singles, Fred Goldsmith, was the Greenbank team's only maximum hitter whilst there was a smattering of other decent legs.

Agar won 3-0 with one leg coming in 18 and Billy Evans 3-2 defeat in the singles saw one of the two he won claimed in just 18 darts.

Andrew Cook and Antony Hayman shared the top scoring honours for King Billy with twelve tons each in a 9-2 success over Kings Arms.

That duo were supported well by Zak Burden who netted eleven tons whilst Scott Cook was the fourth member of the Devonport side to reach double figures in tons with ten efforts.

Burden's total was rounded off by the highest checkout of the match with a 118 that bettered a 111 from Kyle Burden, as well as a fine 86 kill for Frankie Stout.

Zak Burden's checkout came in a 3-2 defeat to Paul Palmer who was the Oreston team's best performer with twelve tons.

Palmer wasn't the only member of the defeated team to reach double figures as Lee Hellings joined that particular club with ten tons of his own.

Hellings total was topped up by a brace of 180s that was two of six during the game; Hayman also adding a pair to go alongside Kyle Burden and Scott Cook's one maximum each.

A number of short games were headed by Andrew Cook's 14 darter in a 3-1 win that also saw a leg in 17 whilst three men bagged a leg in 16.

Hellings (28.35) won 3-0 with two in 16 whilst Scott Cook (26.83) and Hayman both won a solitary leg in the same fashion in their successes by the same score line.

Mike Pearce led the way with ten tons but still couldn't arrest St Levans slide to an 8-3 turnaround in a visit to Octagon.

Simon Washington defeated Matt Pearce 3-1 with both players adding a 17 dart leg to that affair whilst Washington's teammate Alfie Ford added the only 180 of the game.

Victory A picked up a 10-1 win over Indian Inn; a match that saw "180!" called no fewer than four times with Scott Lawrey, Quinton Taylor and Kelvin Rowe scoring one each for the victorious home side.

Rowe's maximum came in a 3-1 win that was littered with 17 and 18 dart legs whilst Lawrey scored the first of the game before going on to check 118 in a 3-0 singles that also had a 15 darter.

Louis Yates was the only maximum hitter for the defeated Stoke Village side; his three treble visit coming in a narrow 3-2 individual defeat.

Fawn A's 7-4 win over Duchy saw Mike Nancholas throw the only maximum whilst there was three big finishes spread between two of his teammates.

Mike Bassett checked 95 and 100 before Mark Sargeant bettered those efforts with a 117 three dart combination out shot for the best of the matchup.
