Dallas Shows He's No Cowboy With Big Fish

James Ewing's top of the shop 170 checkout in the Legends Lounge Premier League 1 was the difference maker in his 7-6 success over Chris Edgecombe.

Edgecombe himself had checked 110 in a single visit in the defeat that allowed Ewing to extend his lead over Edgecombe in the standings to two points in eighth and ninth.

Paul Palmer became the first Premier League 1 player to reach double figures in 180s for the season as he threw one in his 7-3 win over Lee Hunter to add to his total of eleven.

That Palmer effort sat alongside a brace of maximums put onto the scoreboard in a 7-4 success over Danny Bull that also featured a checkout of 153.

Palmer now sits second in the standings, sandwiched between Dan Brazier and Maria O'Brien who shared three maximums in a close encounter that went to all thirteen legs.

Brazier tops the standings after the 7-6 win, in which he out-gunned O'Brien in the 180 stakes by 2-1 to give him a single point lead at the top whilst Scott Wapshott defeated Kelly Burkitt 7-0 to keep in touch in seventh.

Kieran Burns failed to take advantage of former leader Neil White's lack of activity when falling to a 7-4 defeat versus Lee Hunter with Burns now in fifth in a league that separates the top nine by just twelve points.

In Premier League 2, Sean Burkitt's 154 checkout was the highest finish of the evening's play, but it was the only leg won against Andrew Cook who hit five maximums in the 7-1 success.

A sixth maximum of the evening for Cook was plundered in his second outing of the night; a 7-3 win over Lawrey that puts Cook atop of the leader board in both the title race and number of maximums hit.

In Lawrey's second matchup of the night, he withstood a maximum from Dave Hollow to claim a 7-3 win that allowed him to join his rival in a three way tie for fifth on forty-five points.

Hollow joined that trio thanks in part to his 7-3 success over Frankie Stout who himself fared better in his second matchup of the night with the help of a maximum during his 7-0 win over Liam Taylor.

Paul Gavican also nailed a 180 during his 7-0 win over Sarah Brown whilst Darren Smith threw three consecutive treble twenties in his 7-1 win over Nick Cordrey.

Smith is now well placed at the bottom of a nine player train who are separated by just six points in what looks like an incredibly tight affair.
