Cook-ed To Perfection
A top performance from Scott Cook (28.36) lit up a 7-4 win for King Billy in the Steve Chapman 501 League with Victory Hammers on the wrong side of that score line.
Cook bagged two 18 dart legs and another in 17 during his 3-0 individual success that saw one of those aforementioned legs ploughed home with a 100 checkout.
Cook walked away from the oche with one of his team's 180s to his name as he ticked his ton tally over to the ten mark.
Cook's teammate and brother, Andrew Cook, top scored with a twelve ton haul that included the other maximum in the contest.
John Mann (26.84) produced the goods for leaders Fawn B with a 3-0 win that contained a leg in just 13 darts during a 10-1 triumph.
Mann ended his night on eleven tons whilst three of his cohort made it to double figures for scores of a ton or more.
The most prominent of which was Andy Bates with twelve tons whilst Simon Washington was an eleven ton hitter and Fred Goldsmith finished on ten ton plusses.
Mann and Washington's totals were topped up by two of the three maximums for the visitors with Sean Taylor adding to that trio.
Taylor added a 96 checkout and a leg in 18 darts to his repertoire whilst Goldsmith heard 'game shot' called after throwing 16 darts in his 3-2 success.
Mitchell Grimshaw fired thirteen ton plusses to lead Tradesmans to a 9-2 success over Indian Inn who had Dan Wilkinson finishing at the first time of asking from 130 to take a share of the high checkout prize.
That bettered Grimshaw's 108 kill whilst teammate Lewis Byrne was also prolific in the scoring phase with ten tons.
Grimshaw's 3-2 singles win saw what turned out to be a crucial 18 dart leg and Byrne found a leg in 16 during his 3-1 success.
Paul Palmer pounded scores of a ton or more into the board twelve times for Kings Arms in their visit to Beacon Park.
Palmer's teammate was also as equally influential with ten tons whilst the man that defeated Palmer in the individual phase 3-2, Beau Carter, matched Johns' ten ton haul.
A 92 checkout from Reg Matthews saw him claim the best finishing honours of the match whilst three short games lit up the individual phase.
Johns was a 3-0 winner with the help of a leg in 18 whilst teammate Paul Hendy fired a 17 darter in another 3-0 win before Palmer's defeat that saw him pick up one leg in 18.
Six maximums were shared between Fawn A and Cherry Tree C in a 6-5 win for the former but the main aggressor in the 180 stakes came from the defeated team.
Nick Bryant added all three of his team's maximums, which helped top up his ton total to the eleven mark overall.
Liam Taylor's brace of three treble visits was added to by Dave Clemson with a solitary effort whilst Lee Hellings added ten tons to teammate Bryant's eleven.
At the business end of legs, Hellings and teammate Melvyn German added a leg in 19 darts over the 601 distance.
Bryant checked 81 in a single visit and added a leg in 17 darts during his 3-0 win that left the topsy-turvy encounter at 5-5 after the Greenbank side surrendered a 3-0 lead to fall behind 4-3 before eventually levelling.
A game this close deserved to go down to the wire and it couldn't have been closer as Mark Sargeant won a last leg shootout with German to take a 3-2 win and the spoils for his team.
Alfie Ford top scored with eleven tons but still found himself on the wrong end of a 9-2 loss as Octagon were downed by Cherry Tree B.
Scott Wapshott's 130 was the best finish of both the match and of the week across all fixtures played whilst the defeated team put three of the four maximums onto the scoreboard.
Chris Edgecombe, Dave Pethick and Jayden Dodd all fired for the defeated team whilst Mark Shears was the only recipient of a '180' call for the home outfit.
Jack McMinn fired eleven tons but found himself on the wrong side of a 6-5 loss as Tex Pearce steered home the win for St Levans over Bluebird with a 3-0 singles win with the scores tied at 5-5 going into it.
McMinn's teammates Alan Masters and Lewis Whitley both added 180s in the contest whilst the latter also managed an 18 dart leg in his 3-1 singles defeat.
Three players ended Victory A's 9-2 win over Bar Mez with eleven tons as Tony Tasker and Scott Lawrey both achieved that feat for the victorious away side.
Paul Tackle was an eleven ton hitter for the Torpoint outfit whilst in the finishing stages of legs, three moments of magic stood out.
Kelvin Rowe's 117 combination out shot stood out in his 3-0 win whilst Tackle and Paddy Archibald played out close fought battle that ended 3-2 to the former.
Tackle's 18 dart leg proved to be crucial in deciding the outcome whilst Archibald's leg in 17 ended up being only a consolation.
An 8-3 win for Cherry Tree A at Ivybridge CC saw three main highlights as Simon Wilbraham's 180 and 16 dart leg was added to by Brian Harman with an 88 checkout.
Checkouts of 111 from Neal Walters and a 110 from Jason Bruce occurred in a 10-1 win for Walters' Victory Fireballs over Bruce's Duchy.
