Brian Is St Johnston's Messiah In Comeback Success

St Johnston B overturned a 6-5 Plymouth Open League Knockout Cup deficit from the first leg against Mainstone A to secure a 7-4 win in the final tie of the two legged encounter.



The game could've gone to sudden death ties if it wasn't for Brian Lumsdon's intervention as he came away a 2-1 winner in the final singles to give his team the 12-10 success.


Treve Sanders fired a 106 checkout for St Levans in an 8-3 win gave his Keyham side a 14-8 two leg win over Cherry Tree C.



Dave Williams fired a 95 kill to help Prince Maurice to a 6-5 success, but it was Weston Mill who snuck through 12-10 after taking a 7-4 win from their away first game.


Gareth Hockings added a checkout of 115 to help Lugger B to a 9-2 second leg win over Mainstone B that saw the score tick to 17-5 across the two affairs.



Cherry Tree B topped their first leg score up from 8-3 to 17-5 with a 9-2 win over Ker St C whilst Bluebird secured the three legs they needed and more in a 7-4 win over Herbert to complete a 16-6 success.


Simon Wilbraham added a 180 but still saw his Lugger A side crash out of the cup to Beacon Park 19-3 overall after an 8-3 win for the latter rounded off the win.



Biggest winners were Weston Mill Oak Villa who won 22-0 against King Billy B with a second 11-0 success whilst St Johnston A overcame Albemarle 18-4 overall after a second successive 9-2 win.


Dan Nixon's 70 checkout lit up Cherry Tree A's 8-3 success over Duchy that put Nixon's team through by a 14-8 margin.



Mark Hempsall added a 180 to his 98 checkout in a 10-1 win for Fawn A over Tap & Barrel which rounded off a 17-5 match score across the home and away ties.


Keanan Grimshaw's 180 and a 94 checkout by teammate Cody Petherick steered Ker St B to a 9-2 second leg win that contributed to a 17-5 two legged victory.



It took Legends Lounge OGs until the ninth game to secure their place in the next round despite holding a 9-2 lead from the first leg with Agaton A eventually winning the second leg 6-5 to make the score line 14-8 overall.


Lee Medway fired a 180 in a 2-1 singles win that gave Fortescue a 6-5 win in the second leg, but it wasn't enough for Falstaff to be toppled as they secured passage into the next round with a 12-10 success overall.



After Pennycross defeated Ker St A 10-1 in the first leg, the latter made the score line a little more respectable with a 6-5 defeat giving the former a 16-6 success overall.


Geordie Baker's 118 checkout was the only effort to better a 100 by teammate Jan McGinley whilst Sarah Sutton fired the only maximum of the match for the defeated side.



Fawn B will play in the Supplementary Cup after only winning 6-5 in the second leg of their contest with Prince Maurice, which meant the Eggbuckland side secured a 13-9 win overall.


Neil White fired a 17 darter to contribute to a 10-1 win for Victory over King Billy A that ticked their two legged score over to a dominant 18-4 win.



The visitors from Devonport had Dylan Webb firing a 96 checkout that was the best checkout of the game and meant that White's teammate Mark Williams had to settle for second best with an 86 kill.
