Big Fish Netted TWICE By Plymouth's Darting Stars

An impressive two 170 finishes were plundered in the eight fixtures played in the Steve Chapman 501 League; the first coming from Scott Cook in a 3-1 singles win during a 9-2 success for King Billy over Fawn A.

What's more remarkable is Cook had come close to achieving the feat in a doubles game with teammate Frankie Stout in which the pairing won a 601 leg in just 19 darts.

Stout was superb all night long with ten tons to his name whilst the best in 501 legs came from Cook and teammate Antony Hayman who won in 18 and 17 darts respectively.

The other effort that shared the highest checkout of the week and season so far came from Tom Full in a 9-2 defeat for Bar Mez against Victory C.

That win for the title chasing Honicknowle side owed much to the form of Jason Pinkerton who blasted in five maximums overall in the match; Billy Evans making it six for his team with a solitary three treble visit.

The first two helped Pinkerton, Phil Hoyle and Scott Wapshott (40.05) to a ridiculous 20 dart 801 leg in the first trebles match of the night; this leg just six darts short of the shortest possible attempt of 14 darts.

The world class action didn't stop there as Hoyle and Pinkerton stepped up again in the 601 doubles phase to take one of the two legs they won together in 15 darts.

A sixteen ton haul from Mark Hatherley didn't put much of a dent into the overall score as Octagon ran through Indian Inn 9-2.

Hatherley added a 180 to that mammoth total whilst both of the other maximums in the match came from Dave Pethick for the victors.

Pethick's teammate Jayden Dodd top scored for the Stonehouse side with twelve tons whilst there was also a smattering of short legs in the affair.

Robbie Bisgrove got the better of Ian Heggie 3-2 with an 18 darter proving crucial for the former whilst one of Heggie's two legs that worried the scorer was checked in 16 darts.

Hatherley also succeeded by a single leg in five with legs of 18 and 17 darts providing the required push over the line to his triumph.

John Mann's fifteen ton plusses set leaders Fawn B on their way to what looked like a handsome win over former second placed Victory A before a mini collapse saw the game end 7-4.

Andy Bates and Pete Holland supported Mann well in the endeavour with eleven tons each; the former hitting a 180 and the latter checking 100 along the way.

Holland's finish had to settle for third best as Lee Agar's 108 was bettered by a 136 combination out shot from Dave Matthews.

All looked rosy for the current champions with leads built of 4-0 and 7-1 before Scott Lawrey's 180 helped him to a 3-1 win in the ninth outing of the night.

Mark Williams, who had earlier contributed his team's first 180 of the match, topped his ton total up to twelve in a 3-2 success over Holland.

Kelvin Rowe had the last laugh as he secured a 3-2 win and with it a thirteen three figure haul to make the score line much more respectable than feared just three ties previous.

There was a series of short legs in the match with Mann and Holland's doubles game being won 2-1 thanks in part to a 17 dart leg over the 601 distance.

Mann returned to win 3-1 with legs of 14 and 18 darts against Paul Goundry who himself reached ten tons for the evening.

Agar was bested by Lawrey but still found time to win a leg in 18 darts whilst Rowe's heroics saw him bag a brace of legs in six completed visits.

Eleven tons from Mike Pearce led St Levans to a 9-2 win over Ker St with Pearce's contribution containing a 180 and a 141 checkout.

Pearce was joined by Anna Pearce and Tex Pearce in hitting a maximum on the night whilst the aforementioned checkout bettered a 120 from Anna Pearce.

Mike Pearce also joined Matt Pearce in a 601 double success that was put away in just 18 darts; a feat matched by Tex Pearce over the 501 distance in a 3-0 singles win.

Mike Pearce exceeded that achievement as well with a 17 dart leg in his 3-0 win that was the best leg of the match.

Four of the twelve on display in Cherry Tree's 7-4 win over Kings Arms reached ten tons during a match that saw eight of the eleven ties decided by a single leg.

Luke Beard, Dave Lee and Daniel Brazier all added ten ton plusses to the scoreboard for the victors whilst Dave Johns provided the Oreston side's main firepower.

Both Brazier and Johns accented their totals with maximums whilst a 99 finish from Johns' teammate Chrissie Kinnaird claimed the highest of the match.

Brazier's 17 darter in his 3-2 win proved to be crucial and was only bettered on the night by a 15 dart leg from teammate Beard that proved of equal importance in a success by the same score line.

The lion's share of three maximums in the matchup between Victory Hammers and Duchy swung the game in the former's direction 8-3.

Ryan Harris and Nick Miller provided the 180s for the victors whilst Jordan Heath's solitary effort added a noteworthy moment to an otherwise disappointing result.
