Bell Ends Barrel's Cup Role

Joe Bell's 160 highest out shot of the Plymouth Open League season so far came in a Supplementary Cup second leg 9-2 win for Ker St C that rounded off a 15 dart leg in Bell's 2-0 individual win.



That result gave the Devonport team a two legged advantage of 18-4 as opponents Tap & Barrel also succumbed 9-2 in the first leg.


Three 180s were plundered between Lugger A and Fortescue with James Grand, Logan Carroll and Marc Mills all adding three treble visits in a 7-4 win for the former in the first rubber.



A fourth maximum was fired in the second leg by Jason Goldsmith as Fortescue mounted a comeback but still were edged 12-10 despite Richard Dawes 114 checkout in a 6-5 win.


Maximums rained down from the arm of Graham Couch and Cameron O'Brien to help Mainstone A the narrowest of 6-5 triumphs over Cherry Tree C.



O'Brien also shone in the second leg with an 84 checkout, which helped his team with passage to the next round thanks to a 7-4 away contest win, giving a 13-9 overall score line.


King Billy A struck checkouts of 120 and 92 from Kian Brown and Antony Hayman respectively in an 11-0 win that rounded off a 22-0 two legged whitewash against Herbert.



Those efforts bettered a 90 combo from teammate Josh McTighe in the initial home affair of the two match contest.


John Brady's 82 checkout accented a second leg 10-1 win for Fawn B at Shakespeare to put their name amongst the top eight teams left in the secondary cup competition.



The first leg of that particular tie saw Alan Brady fire a maximum during a 9-2 win that meant the Greenbank outfit were 19-3 winners overall.


Ker St A had Jan McGinley checking 77 in a single visit during a first leg 7-4 win over Duchy before Yvette Ward added an 80 kill in the second leg 8-3 triumph to help their team to a two leg 15-7 score line.



A Liam Donovan 70 checkout came in a 10-1 first leg win for Prince Maurice against Legends Lounge B before Mark Langdon and Dave Williams fired maximums in a win by same score to give an end result of 20-2.

Agaton made almost certain of safe passage in the first leg of their tie against Mainstone B with a 9-2 win before the defeated party made the score line respectable with a 6-5 second leg win to end 14-8 down.



In the Knockout Cup, Dan Nixon plundered 140 in a single visit but still found himself on the wrong end of a 10-1 thrashing as second tier Cherry Tree A were downed by Division A leaders Beacon Park.


The 20-2 score line was rounded off by another 10-1 success that featured a Phil Hoyle 106 checkout for the reigning champions who will be hot favourites for the trophy lift at the end of the season.



Weston Mill Oak Villa were 18-4 winners over St Johnston with a 180 from Kevin Evans coming a first leg 10-1 win that was followed by an 8-3 triumph in the second.


Three highlights from Bluebird's 9-2 first leg loss at Legends Lounge OGs came in the form of Dan Wilkinson's 180 and a Josh Fuller 100 checkout that bettered an Ally Stovell kill of 91.



The A Division side exerted their superiority over the lower league opposition with a 7-4 win that gave them an overall win of 16-6.


Victory had Mark Williams in top form during an 11-0 first leg win with a 180 and 85 finish driving them to success before completing the job in the second 9-2 for a 20-2 triumph.



Fawn A took St Levans to a playoff in the most dramatic of fashion with both games ending 6-5 to the home side to force the rare best of three extra time event.


The close fought first encounter saw Mark Hopkins win a last leg shootout to give St Levans a slender first tie advantage.



Ryan Carter added a maximum for the defeated side on that night before Treve Sanders returned the favour for the Keyham team in the second leg.


Dave Jones fired a 100 checkout to help leave the game on a knife edge going into the last singles that teammate Dave Clemson won 2-1 to force the playoff, which was won 2-0 by Sanders' side.



Division B leaders Ker St B had Keanan Grimshaw checking 113 in the first leg of their 6-5 win over Division A's Cherry Tree B and edged the opposition 6-5 again the second leg to come through 12-10 overall.


Brian Lumsdon and Tyler Borthwick both shone for Johnno Legends but their 89 checkout and 17 dart leg couldn't stop the St Budeaux based team from being downed by Weston Mill 6-5 in a first reversal.



Weston Mill completed the task in their home leg with an 8-3 win to come out of the two contests 14-8 the better.


Jordan Lee showed his finishing prowess with a 72 kill during a 6-5 win for Prince Maurice FC at Falstaff who had Ryan Horn adding a 180 in a 7-4 second leg loss to bow out 13-9.
