Beckett At It In Steampacket Defeat
George Beckett fired as many as fifteen three figure scores for Steampacket in a Plymouth City Super League Division A defeat to at Colebrook by a 7-4 score line.
Beckett was well supported by Neal Hotchkiss who fired twelve ton plusses whilst, but the pair still fell foul as Will Broome and teammate Darren Smith also ran riot in the scoring phase.
Broome added ten tons to the scoreboard whilst Smith's total of twelve scores of a ton or more was topped up by his team's only maximum.
Despite the outstanding scoring, Smith succumbed to Beckett 3-1 in the individual phase with Beckett's 180 and legs in 18 and 14 darts doing the damage.
Harry Bull's twelve three figure scores led Indian Inn to a 10-1 success over Saltram who had Mark Lyons showing good form with ten tons of his own.
Bull was well supported by Adam Fell who also completed a ten ton personal tally whilst there was a 180 in the match for each side as Danny Bull and Liam Page heard that number called after throwing on solitary occasions.
Paul Palmer's good form continued as he finished on twelve tons in King Billy's 10-1 success over Victory that sees them climb to the top of the standings.
Antony Hayman was also at something like his best as he added the game's only maximum on his way to ten three figure scores.
Hayman (25.91) was clinical in the individual stage with a 16 darter that helped him claim a 3-0 win whilst Victory's only notable contribution saw Phil Hoskin fire an 89 checkout in his 3-2 singles defeat.
Five maximums lit up a highly entertaining contest between Legends Lounge and Kings B that ended in a 6-5 win for the former that came down to the very last leg possible of the contest.
The quartet of Paul Gavican, Ant Pearn, Scott Wapshott and Dan Brazier all put up three treble visits for the St Budeaux based title chasers whilst Simon Kelly added the Oreston side's only 180.
Gavican and Pearn put together a fine 18 dart 601 leg during the doubles phase of play whilst legs in 13 and 17 darts from Mark Shears in his 3-0 triumph were the best over the 501 distance.
Scott Cook checked 89 in the contest for the best finish of the match before going on to be the Legend's hero as he steered his side home 3-2 in the eleventh and final rubber to claim the spoils of a topsy-turvy contest.
Liam Taylor's 114 checkout wasn't enough to arrest Fawn A's slide to an 8-3 home defeat against Bluebird A; for whom Glenn Austin added an 18 dart leg in his 3-0 success.
Taylor's three dart combination out shot was the best mustered in the whole of Division A, and was also joined by the game's only maximum during Taylor's impressive 3-1 individual success.
The form of Simon Stevenson continues to keep Cornwall Gate in the Division B title race with his fifteen ton total being topped up by three maximums.
Mark Turner also produced the form that has enabled him to win well over 100 caps for Devon as he put eleven tons onto the scoreboard.
The finishing prowess of Turner's doubles partner, Andy Malinowski, allowed him to get over the line in the individual phase as an 86 checkout was joined by a 155 in his 3-2 singles win.
That checkout was the best thrown across the two sections of the league whilst the best leg of 501 came from the arm of Stevenson who nailed one in 15 in a 3-0 success.
The cherry on top of Tex Pearce's eleven ton tally in St Levans 7-4 defeat at Clifton was one of the four maximums in the match.
Pearce was joined by teammates Anna Pearce and Mark Hopkins in achieving that feat whilst Dan Jewell also added a 180 for the victorious Greenbank side.
Tex Pearce's (25.47) three treble visit came in a 3-0 win that was also aided over the line by a 501 leg finished off in just 18 darts.
Cherry Tree B had Tony Reid in good form during their 9-2 win over Fawn B as Reid put eleven three figure scores onto the board.
Three maximums also lit up a fine performance by the Pennycross side as Kev Doel, Paul Hoare and Logan Carroll all heard '180' called after throwing.
Carroll's two 18 darters, however, were not enough to steer him to a singles win as Carroll was eventually bested by Mike Bassett 3-2 in a high quality contest.
Tom Green fired an unbeaten ten tons for Duchy B but still found himself on the wrong end of a 10-1 defeat as Kings Tamerton claimed the spoils.
Green's teammate CJ Hardy added the game's only maximum whilst the victorious hosts only moment of magic came from Chris Hanwell who checked 117 at the first time of asking.
Duchy A were denied a second win of the campaign in the last tie of a 6-5 home defeat to Hyde Park, who themselves had Ben Welsh in fine fettle.
Welsh added a modest but respectable high checkout of 64 to his two maximums in the match, whilst teammate Jacob Bentham claimed a 3-0 win in the final game of the night to give his side the win.
Aaron Wright and teammate Mick Bingham produced the goods for Victoria to help them to a 6-5 win in the Plymstock derby win over Kings Arms A.
Wright's individual game was won by a 3-1 score line thanks to 15 and 18 dart legs, as well as a 115 checkout that was the only effort to better Bingham's 100 finish.
