As Gold As Ice And Willing To Sacrifice
Fred Goldsmith top scored for runaway Monday Premier League leaders Tradesmans with fourteen tons during a 7-4 win over Cherry Tree A.
Goldsmith wasn't the only member of the team with his scoring boots on as John Mann added thirteen three figure scores.
Lee Agar was also in good form with ten tons whilst Paul Freeman added the only maximum to his ten ton total for the defeated team.
Goldsmith's (33.40) remarkable performance wasn't curtailed to the scoring phase he averaged over 100 when taking his singles 3-0 thanks to legs in 17, 14 and 14.
That bettered Mann's (28.90) who won by the same score line; his more than respectable average being made up of a brace of 18 darters and another in 16.
Mann and Agar paired to provide the best 601 doubles game as the pair put together a leg in 17 before Agar's 3-1 win saw him put together another leg in six completed visits.
Mike O'Brien found the fourth 18 darter of the evening in a 3-0 win whilst Freeman was one of two winners for the defeated side after the fifth and final leg in 18 darts.
The other competitor for the Pennycross side to get over the line was Matt Nicholson who won 3-1; the success coming after he finished 106 in a single visit to give his side the very first point of the match.
Quinton Taylor's fourteen tons was the catalyst behind a Victory A 7-4 win at Bluebird B; a total that was accented by a 108 checkout and two of the four maximums.
Taylor's checkout was matched by Wayne Oddie for the defeated team whilst teammate Ryan Harris and Matt Lang for the Compton side, both added maximums.
Taylor was supported well by Scott Lawrey and Tony Tasker who nailed eleven tons to the board each whilst Lawrey claimed the best average of the night.
Lawrey (29.47) won 3-0 firing legs in 16, 17 and 18 darts whilst Taylor came through a 3-2 test with the help of crucial legs in 16 and 18.
Antony Hayman's fourteen three figure scores pushed King Billy into the right direction of a 7-4 success over Bluebird A.
Hayman's tally was topped up by two maximums whilst teammate Andrew Cook added a single maximum to his eleven ton total.
Cook also checked 111 in a single visit to the board whilst Hayman's sharp shooting included the best leg of the match; a 17 darter in his 3-0 win over Alan Masters.
Masters himself put up most of the resistance from the Compton side as he made his way to eleven tons overall.
Glenn Halford put twelve tons onto the scoreboard in a 7-4 win for Bluebird C at Colebrook; adding to the 88 checkout he threw in the win.
A 10-1 win for the Octagon A saw three maximums and two ton plus out shots with Lee Hellings and Jayden Dodd adding to Phil Hoskin's sole three treble visit for the defeated team.
Hellings other moment of magic saw his 114 checkout better teammate Paul Hendy's 100 kill whilst Dodd's 18 darter in a 3-0 win was the best leg of 501 recorded.
Victory B and Indian Inn shared two 180s equally in a match that ended with the former getting the better of the away side by an 8-3 score line.
Paul Gavican fired a solitary maximum for the victors whilst the Harry Bull heard 180 called after throwing for the visitors from Stoke.
A Dave Lee 94 checkout came in a topsy-turvy 6-5 win for Cherry Tree B over Octagon B; a match that saw the home side surrender leads of 3-0 and 4-1 before finally getting over the line by a single leg.
