Antony Makes Hay Whilst The Billy Shines
Antony Hayman starred with sixteen tons in King Billy's Plymouth City Super League A League win by an 8-3 score line in a visit to Indian Inn.
Hayman topped that mammoth ton tally off with a 128 checkout that was one of three ton plus finishes in the match.
Harry Bull's 124 finish ticked his ton total over to the ten mark for the defeated side whilst Hayman's teammate Mark Yeoman's 101 combination out shot had to settle for third best.
Hayman wasn't the only 'Billy Boy' to play at something like his best as Paul Goundry added the Devonport side's only maximum on his way to eleven tons.
Also prominent was Paul Palmer with a ten ton personal haul whilst the other maximums in the match were plundered by Harry and Danny Bull.
Three legs of note over the 501 distance came in ten legs played back to back by four individuals as Paul Goundry nailed a 17 darter in a 3-2 defeat to Harry Bull.
Danny Bull was also edged out 3-2 by Hayman despite Bull's 17 darter in riposte to a remarkable leg in 12 by the former Devon and Cornwall man.
George Beckett's eleven ton plusses included 142 high checkout; that total leading Steampacket to an 8-3 success over Fawn A.
Beckett's mammoth checkout was one of a trio of three figure out shots in the game as teammate Neal Hotchkiss checked a three dart combo of 122 for the second best.
A 100 single visit kill from the ageless Mike Nancholas for the defeated team was the third big finish whilst Beckett (25.47) also showed his class at the business end of legs with a brace of 16 darters in a 3-0 win.
A 9-2 win for Cherry Tree A away at Victory Inn was lit up by eleven tons from Dave Lee whilst Kev Marshall added a maximum to his ten ton haul in the match.
Chris Beale joined his teammate in hitting a maximum for the defeated side whilst Lee O'Mahony's checkout of 125 was the best mustered between the twelve competitors on display.
That effort narrowly bettered a 121 from Nick Miller whilst Lee's 18 darter in a 3-2 success was the best over the 501 distance.
Two brilliant 601 triumphs came in the same doubles rubber as Lee and teammate Mills added a 20 darter in a 2-1 success over Beale and Marshall who checked their winning leg in 19.
Simon Kelly seems to be enjoying life in his new Oreston home after leading Kings B to an 8-3 triumph over Saltram, thanks in part to Kelly's eleven ton haul.
Paul Carpenter certainly had his finishing boots on after recording a 108 checkout whilst the best leg also came from the arm of Kelly who checked out in 17 darts during his 3-0 success.
An 8-3 home win for Legends Lounge over Bluebird A produced no fewer than seven maximums and three players reaching the ten ton mark as Scott Wapshott top scored for the St Budeaux outfit with a dectet.
Glenn Halford nailed two maximums on his way to ten tons whilst teammate Stoodley netted a solitary 180 to tick his ton haul over to the ten mark.
Lee Roberts made it four 180s for the visitors whilst Mark Shears brace was added to by teammate Paul Gavican to make it three for the victors.
At the business end of legs, Dan Brazier's checkout of 136 claimed the highest of the match whilst Shears led the way in the first singles with a 3-0 win that contained legs in 14 and 18 darts.
Wapshott was also a 3-0 winner with the help of legs in 17 and 18 darts on what was a success evening for the title chasing side who sit just off the top in the early standings.
After a surprisingly mixed start to the two league format, Colebrook picked up their second win of the season in a 6-5 success away at Bluebird B.
Nathan Langdon led the way for the away side with ten tons whilst checkouts of 103 from Vince Scallan and 113 from Nige Bassett helped keep the score line respectable for the defeated Compton outfit.
In Division B, fifteen three figure scores from Simon Stevenson included two maximums as the six time Champion of Champions helped leaders Cornwall Gates to a 9-2 success over Duchy B.
Andy Malinowski's 180 made it three for the visitors whilst Wayne Pike's checkout of 80 was the only noteworthy contribution by the defeated Stonehouse side.
Mick Bingham's haul of thirteen scores of a ton or more included two of the four maximums in a 9-2 success for Victoria over Duchy A.
Bingham also checked 501 in 18 whilst his 180s were joined by one from Aaron Wright and Mark Langdon, and the finishing phase was lit up by a 92 from Bingham, Wright's 106 and 118, and a 152 from Gary Eaton.
Despite ending on the wrong side of a 9-2 defeat to Clifton, Kings A's Mike Sant still had time to put ten tons onto the scoreboard.
One of those efforts was his team's only maximum in the match whilst Sant's 14 darter in a 3-1 individual came with a 92 checkout that was put away in just two darts.
The man who got the better of Sant, Wayne Town, added one of his team's two maximums in that success whilst teammate Dan Jewell made it three 180s for the night.
Jewell's effort came in a 3-0 triumph that also saw Jewell check a solitary leg in just 15 darts for the Greenbank side that sit nicely poised just three points off of the top.
Ben Welsh was unlucky to finish his evening on the end of a 6-5 defeat as his ten scores of a ton or more couldn't arrest Hyde Park's slide to a narrow home loss against Ker St.
Lee Dennis' 100 checkout was the best finish of the game; bettering a 93 kill from teammate James Duke and a 78 from Paul Tackle for the visitors from Devonport.
The topsy-turvy affair in which the lead changed hands five times was finally settled by Fred Lamerton who ran out a 3-1 winner with the scores tied at 5-5 going into the last singles rubber.
Four 180s were shared between Cherry Tree B and Kings Tamerton as the former claimed a 7-4 triumph over the latter.
Logan Carroll and Tony Reid fired for the victorious home side whilst Pat Blight and Lee Soper heard '180' called after throwing once each in riposte.
The most notable moment from the business end of the tight affair came from Lee Hunter who added a 73 checkout.
Fawn B made it five wins from six outings with a 7-4 success over St Levans that saw Steve Dobson check 88 and John Sturdy add an 18 darter to his body of work.
