Andrew Is Cook-Ing
The outstanding Andrew Cook produced another master class of heavy scoring during a 7-4 win for the King Billy at Octagon B in the Monday Premier League.
Cook's fifteen ton plusses heavily contributed to the win with the game's only maximum accenting a brilliant performance.
In the individual phase of play, legs of 18 and 13 helped Cook to a 3-1 success over Steve Daley, who checked his sole leg with a 120 finish.
Ryan Ring showed his quality with ten tons on the night in a game that the Stonehouse side were certainly not out of until the final two singles games made the score line look more one sided than the darts suggested.
Alan Masters added twelve tons to the scoreboard in a 7-4 success for Bluebird A over Brewery Tap; one of which was a high checkout of 115.
Masters had to battle hard against individual opponent Del Bryce who threw legs of 15 and 18 darts, as well as the game's only maximum in the 3-2 win for McMinn.
Jack McMinn was also prominent for the victorious visitors with ten tons contributing heavily to the Compton team's success.
Tradesmans made it twenty-five wins from twenty-five starts with another emphatic win; this week's victims being the Victory B by a 10-1 score.
John Mann top scored with twelve ton plusses as he was one of four men from the Stonehouse side that reached the double figure milestone.
Mann was well supported by Mike O'Brien who reached eleven three figure scores whilst Fred Goldsmith and Andy Bates also managed ten each.
After sharing the two trebles games with their hosts, Tradesmans moved up a couple of gears as Goldsmith and Bates paired for a 601 leg in 19 darts.
Following that, Mann and teammate Shaun Dring (29.32) teamed in their double games to take a 2-0 win with legs of 19 and 22 darts.
Dring added his team's first maximum of the game during the tie in which the veteran duo had to withstand a Scott Cook maximum to run out winners.
A finish of 112, a maximum, and a leg in 15 darts were the catalyst for O'Brien to then take his individual game 3-1.
Jaden Whitting continues to produce performances beyond his years as he notched an 18 darter in his 3-1 success.
Mann (27.83) brushed aside a more than worthy adversary in Scott Cook; the 3-0 triumph won with the help of legs in 18 and 17 darts.
Whilst the score line was disappointing for the talented Victory side, Paddy Archibald and Paul Gavican did not disgrace themselves with their scoring exploits as the teammates reached ten tons each.
Glenn Halford led the way for Bluebird C with eleven tons but still found himself on the end of an 8-3 defeat as Octagon A came away with the win.
Lee Hellings added ten tons to the board for the victors whilst Jayden Dodd joined Halford in hitting a maximum and Glenn Austin's 92 checkout was unmatched.
Eleven tons from Nathan Langdon couldn't prevent Union Inn from sinking to a 6-5 defeat to Victory A that was decided in a last leg shootout.
Darren Collis added a 15 darter and a 138 checkout in his 3-1 singles win, which bettered a leg in 18 from Langdon in a win by the same score line.
Langdon's individual success left the the scores tied at 5-5 and Chris Beale was pushed all the way by Dave Reed before Reed finally succumbed in the final leg to allow the visitors the spoils.
The league's Cherry Tree derby match between the A and B teams was evenly contested as the A side won by the narrowest of margins; a 6-5 success.
Three 180s were shared between the sides with George Beckett hitting two and Matt Nicholson throwing one in reply.
Paul Freeman's leg in 17 helped him to a 3-1 win before Kaz Handfield got the better of Mel Sharpe in the final tie of the match to take a 3-1 triumph.
