All That Glitters Is Gold-smith

Despite some excellent play from Fred Goldsmith for Tradesmans in the Monday Premier League, the champions elect were roundly beaten 8-3 by King Billy.

Goldsmith's fourteen scores of a ton or more included a 111 checkout that had to settle for second best in the contest as Andrew Cook fired a 122 for the victors.

Cook's checkout helped tick his ton total over to the thirteen mark whilst Mark Sleet chipped in with twelve ton plusses in the big win.

Sleet's best effort was one of the five 180s as teammate Scott Cook added a brace to three treble visits from Lee Agar and Alec Turner.

Goldsmith's teammate Simon Washington put on eleven scores of a ton or more whilst the undoubted star of the show in the singles was Andrew Cook.

Cook plundered a trio of 17 dart legs on his way to a 3-1 win, which was proceeded by a 20 dart 601 leg in the doubles phase that was put together by Cook and teammate Paul Gavican.

Scores of a ton or more rained down from the arm of Danny Bull thirteen times, which was enough to lead Indian Inn to a 6-5 win over Cherry Tree B.

One of those Bull efforts came in the form of a maximum; an achievement shared by three other players in the contest.

Harry Bull added a 180 to his 130 combination out shot whilst the three treble visits from the home side came from Tony Reid and Phil Taylor respectively.

Andy Bond found scores of a ton or more eleven times, including a 105 checkout, that helped Colebrook to a 7-4 success over Victory.

Bond's three dart finish was bettered twice in the game as teammate Zak Smith settled for second best to a Darren Collis 132.

Collis put nine more tons onto the scoreboard to reach the ten mark whilst Bond's stablemate Nick Furneaux was the only 180 hitter.

A ten ton haul from Glenn Halford couldn't arrest Bluebird B's slide to a 7-4 home loss at the hands of Octagon B.

Teammates Dale Halford and Nick Perring added to a sole 180 from the away team by Dave Pethick whilst two of his teammates achieved ton plus out shots.

Paul Barclay's 120 was the highest of the lot and pushed a 104 from Robbie Aitken into the second best position in the matchup.

A couple of 180s from Sean Taylor gave Legends Lounge the platform to secure an 8-3 success against Cherry Tree A.

Nick Coles added his team's solitary maxi whilst a trio of decent out shots from Taylor's teammates helped do some damage for the home side.

Tommy Graham's 100 kill was the best of the bunch with Dave Barton and Carl Bradshaw both contributing 70 combinations.

Taylor's 3-0 individual triumph came with the help of one single leg that saw him hear 'game shot' called after throwing 17 darts.

Paul Palmer's three dart combination out shot was the best finish of the game week and helped Octagon A to a 10-1 win over Bluebird A.

Whilst the score was one sided, the 180 count actually went the way of the away team as Wayne Oddie and Owen Cook's maximums cancelled out a solitary effort from Palmer's stablemate Luke Johnson.

Darren Smith's 16 darter in a 3-1 triumph was one of three decent showings as teammates Alfie Ford and Lee Hellings added respective 15 and 17 darters in 3-0 wins.
