Alfie's Ford-itude Not Enough As Billy Prevails
A classic Monday Premier League encounter between Octagon A and King Billy was dominated by the former's Alfie Ford, but he ended on the wrong side of a 6-5 defeat as the Devonport visitors prevailed.
Ford nailed thirteen scores of a ton or more including one of the six maximums plundered between the two classy outfits.
Other 180s for the defeated team came from the arms of Luke Johnson and Paul Palmer who ended their evening's on twelve and eleven tons apiece.
Lee Hellings was also in good nick for the host as he put on eleven tons of his own whilst two of the victors' roster also reached that very figure.
To his eleven ton haul, Paul Goundry added the game's top checkout of 115 that pushed Mark Sleet's 101 combination into second place.
Paul Gavican was the other eleven ton hitter of the topsy-turvy contest and the cherry on top of that tally was one of his team's three 180s.
That three treble visit was added to by Scott and Andrew Cook whilst the contest will be equally remembered for a number of short games, particularly in the eight of eleven that were decided by a solitary chalk mark.
Ford and Hellings started the barrage of world class legs of darts with a 22 darter in the 601 doubles contest that ended 2-0.
Sleet and his partner Ant Pearn went one better with a 21 darter over the same distance in a 2-1 triumph, which put the away side 4-1 to the good.
After Ford's 14 darter helped him to a 3-2 success, the gap was only 4-3 before Scott Cook put his team on the brink with a 3-1 victory that contained legs in 18 and 13 darts.
Andrew Cook then made the win safe with a leg in 18 of his own deciding another win by a solitary leg for the third game that ended 3-2.
Palmer made the score line respectable with a 3-2 win when throwing last with his 17 darter proving crucial in deciding the result of that encounter.
Glenn Halford's contribution of thirteen scores of a ton or more made the difference for Bluebird B as they ran out 8-3 winners over Cherry Tree A.
Dale Halford added the only maximum of the contest whilst the week's two biggest checkout came in this contest.
Lee Roberts had to settle for second best despite nailing an admirable 122 combination as the top prize went to Paul Freeman with a 126 for the defeated side.
Eleven tons from Quinton Taylor as well as ten each from both Tony Tasker and Darren Collis couldn't arrest Victory's slide to a 6-5 loss at the hands of Octagon B.
The difference between Taylor and Tasker's totals was the extra 180 that the former his as Taylor put two to Tasker's one onto the scoreboard.
Issac Taylor also added his name to the 180 column on the result sheet whilst the only moment of magic for the successful away side came from Chris Edgecombe who put away 80 in a single visit.
Two ton plus out shots and three maximums provided the ammunition for Legends Lounge to claim a 9-2 win over Cherry Tree B.
Del Bryce added to 180s from Tommy Graham and James Nicholls whilst Lewis Byrne's 101 saw Graham's 100 kill settle for second best.
The only moment of magic from the defeated team came from the arm of Phil Taylor who added a second 100 finish of the match.
