A Touch Of Gold

Fred Goldsmith top scored for leaders Tradesmans with fourteen tons during a Monday Premier League 11-0 win at Cherry Tree A.

Goldsmith was supported well by Scott Wapshott who nailed twelve tons to the board whilst Lee Agar also reached that same tally.

Agar's total was topped up to that twelve mark by one of the two maximums in the game as Simon Washington also fired a three treble visit.

John Mann was also in and around the tons all night as he made it ten tons to his name whilst Rob May was one of a number of players to contribute in the finishing phase of play.

May's 96 checkout was the best of all thirty-one combinations in the game and John Mann netted legs in 15 and 16 darts during his 3-0 win.

Paul Freeman fired a 16 dart leg in a 3-2 loss to Agar which ended with Freeman on eleven tons for his night's work.

Teammate Mike Whatley suffered a 3-1 defeat despite hitting seven of his twelve tons in that loss before May checked in 17 during his 3-0 success.

Wapshott's 15 darter proved to be crucial in maintaining his team's whitewash win as this came in a 3-2 win during the final singles rubber.

Mark Henley continued his good form with thirteen tons for Bluebird A but still remarkably found himself on the wrong end of a 10-1 loss at the hands of King Billy.

The scoring phase was led for the victorious Devonport outfit by Scott Cook who added a 100 checkout to his ten ton haul.

Paul Gavican added the only 180 of the match during a 2-1 doubles win that contained a 601 leg in just 20 darts when Gavican teamed with Mark Sleet.

In the singles phase, Cook fired a leg in 14 during a 3-0 win whilst Andrew Cook's 18 darter settled for second best and came in another 3-0 triumph.

James Nicholls' twelve ton haul led Legends Lounge to a 7-4 win at Octagon B that also saw four others reach the ten ton mark.

Nicholls' teammate Sean Taylor was a ten ton hitter whilst Chris Edgecombe reached Nicholls' mark of twelve for the defeated team.

Both Dave Pethick and Jayden Dodd added ten tons each for Edgecombe's team who himself checked a 118 in a single visit for the best out shot of the contest.

Nicholls was on the end of a 3-2 loss versus Edgecombe despite a 16 dart leg for the defeated party but the three 180s in the game were split 2-1 in Nicholls' team's favour.

Del Bryce and Tom Graham added to a riposte from Steve Daley as a trio of maxi hitters in what turned out to be a very entertaining matchup.

Lee Hellings provided the ammunition to get Octagon A over the line by the narrowest of 6-5 score lines in their visit to Victory.

Whilst the hosts might have lost the war, the 180 battle was dominated by the Honicknowle team as Quinton Taylor, Scott Lawrey and Ryan Harris all scored an effort each.

Hellings' teammate Paul Palmer added a fourth maximum in the contest and chalked up a 120 checkout to show his heroics weren't just curtailed to the scoring phase.

Palmer added a leg in 15 darts during a 3-0 singles success whilst Harris and Hellings played out a close encounter.

Hellings was a 3-2 winner but both Hellings and Harris took the time to add a leg in 17 darts during the closely fought battle.

A 6-5 win for Bluebird B over Indian Inn saw a player from each side net ten tons as Danny Bull and Glenn Austin both fired.

Bull's tally for the defeated team was propped up by the only maximum in the match whilst Austin added a 15 darter in a 3-0 win that left the scores nicely poised at 5-5.

Dan Hurley brought the win home for the away side with an accomplished 3-1 win that final rubber after seeing his side slump to 2-0, 3-1 and 5-4 down before winning the affair.

A first win of the campaign for Cherry Tree B came in a 7-4 success over Colebrook in a match which contained a 180 for each team.

Jon Crotty fired for the defeated team whilst Marc Webber's maximum came in a 2-0 doubles win that also contained a 601 leg in 16 darts when pairing with Phil Taylor.
