A Pearce Of Cake

Tex Pearce's contribution of thirteen scores of a ton or more led St Levans to a 6-5 Plymouth City Super League Division B victory over Cherry Tree B.

Pearce's teammate Mark Hopkins was also in good nick with a 180 and the highest checkout of both the match and week across all second tier fixtures, which was put away at the first time of asking from 122.

Paul Hoare added the only maximum for his defeated away team whilst a 2-0 doubles win for teammates Kev Doel and James Smith saw two notable checkouts.

Doel's 82 was only beaten amongst his cohort by a 98 combination out shot by Smith during the last team game of the close encounter.

Dave Roberts put two maximums onto his twelve ton personal tally but still found himself on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat as Fawn A were downed by Kings Arms A.

Roberts also contributed an 83 finish that was only bettered by a 96 from Danny Phythian for the visitors from Oreston.

Phythian's 18 dart leg came in a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of Mark Hempsall who checked a crucial 16 darter in the victory.

Despite Roberts' good scoring all night, Roberts was on the end of a creditable 3-2 turnaround for Phythian's teammate Colin Sloman who also added a 180 in that tie to give his team an unassailable 6-4 lead.

Jack Heath was the only player of the twelve on display in Victoria's 7-4 win over Heath's Duchy A to hear 180 called after throwing.

Heath's teammate Mark Langdon showed his class at the business end of legs with a fine 81 combination out shot for the best checkout of the matchup overall.

Highlights for Hyde Park in a 10-1 demolition of Duchy B came in the form of a Glyn Carpenter 180 and an 85 combination out from Bob Wood.

Mark Sargeant's 18 darter came in a 3-0 singles success that was one of an octet of points plundered by the Fawn B during their 8-3 victory at Herbert.
