Levy Ladies lose for the first time in Devon Super Lge
AN under-strength Levy Ladies lost for the first time in the Devon County Super League when they went down 5-2 to divisional leaders Country House.
The Exmouth side remain unbeaten and command a lead of 15 points although the St Levan Inn outfit do have a match in hand.
Anna Johnson (16.89) emerged a 3-0 winner as did Chrissie Kinnaird (19.78) (pictured) who also hit a checkout of 164.
In the men’s premier division, Maritime Social Club were pushed the full distance by hosts Winchester Warriors (Exeter) but made it seven wins from as many matches and are just two points behind the leaders.
John Mann (26.72) got the first point on the board when winning 4-0, but despite trailing 2-1, Harry Bull (22.96) and Lee Hellings (22.71) edged Maritime in front when they both won by the odd leg in seven.
Hellings came from 3-2 down to level at 3-3 when finishing a 15-dart leg with a kill of 101 before clinching the decisive seventh leg in 14.
The hosts took the next two to lead at 4-3 but Jadyon Dodd (21.86) and Danny Bull (23.03) won 4-3 and 4-0 respectively which enabled Maritime to win 5-4.
Ker St remain in bottom place and seem destined for relegation after losing 7-2 at Royal Anglers (Bideford).
The Devonport side were 7-0 down before Marc Cresswell (21.02) and Kelvin Rowe (23.22) both won 4-1 to salvage the last two points.
Octagonals could never recover from an early 3-1 deficit and eventually went down 5-4 to Cullompton’s Bell Inn.
Mike Pearce (22.28) won 4-2, aided by a checkout of 130 before Dave Matthews (25.05) and Lee Rodmell (22.62) both won 4-3 with Rodmell finishing a 15-darter with a kill of 114.
From the last three sets, only Fred Goldsmith (21.45) could pick up a point when he won 4-3.
Maritime B achieved a good win in division one when they defeated London Inn (Okehampton) 6-3.
Shaun Dring (22.77) and Rhys Gunter (20.38) won the first two points when they both prevailed 4-3 and Phil Hoyle (21.61) followed with a 4-1 success after winning the opening leg in 18 with a checkout of 140.
Neil Meneer (25.54) emerged a 4-1 winner while Mike Tate (19.46) and Malc Johns (25.69) won 4-3 and 4-0 respectively before London Inn took the last two points of the match.
