Maritime SC win well with eye-catching performances
MARITIME Social Club were one of four teams to win in double figures in the Monday Premier League and impressed in a 10-1 defeat of Octagon B with some eye-catching performances.
Rhys Gunter (100x15) and Kieran Burns (100x13) won their 601 doubles 2-1 in 19 and 20 darts before Burns (pictured) emerged a 3-1 winner in the individual phases, with legs won in 19, 19 and 18.
Shaun Dring was also prominent in the singles and in winning 3-1, took all three legs in 17.
SSteam Packet remain title favourites after an 11-0 whitewash of Bluebird D and had Neil White (25.47) emerging a 3-0 winner in 17, 17 and 25.
Tony Tasker (100x14) top scored for Victory Inn A in their 9-2 defeat of Ford Hotel while Harry Bull (100x14) and Mike Whatley (100x13) caught the eye in Indian A’s 7-4 success when hosting Bluebird C.
Bluebird A edged out Indian B 6-5 and had Mark Henley (100x12) as their form player while Fred Goldsmith (100x11) impressed for Octagon A as they took all but one of the 11 points on offer against Union Inn.
Steve Crane (100x12) was Bluebird B’s leading marksman as they defeated Firkin Scholar 7-4 while Brewery Tap had to settle for a 6-5 win, despite leading Porters A 5-1.
Porters rallied and took four of the singles, but Scott Cook (27.33) emerged a 3-0 winner in 21, 16 and 18 to help Brewery Tap over the line.
The Tradesman plundered all 11 points at the expense of Victory Inn B and had John Mann (31.98) once again showing why he recently caught the eye of the England selectors with a 3-0 win in 17, 15 and 15.
Tony Lamerton was on target with the week’s top checkout of 119 while other ton plus finishes were achieved by: Harry Bull (112), Tony Teal (108), Tony Tasker (107), Jayden Dodd (104).
