Octagon A are new leaders but Packet hold the aces

OCTAGON A took advantage of Steam Packet’s bye in the Monday Premier League to open up a seven-point lead at the top of the table with a 9-2 defeat of Bluebird D, but with two matches in hand, Packet still hold all the aces.

The Tradesman edged Indian A 6-5 and had John Mann (28.90) winning 3-0 in 18, 14 and 20 while Harry Bull (100x13) caught the eye for the visitors.

Firkin Scholar went down 7-4 at home to Brewery Tap but had Frankie Stout (25.91) (pictured) winning well in 19, 18 and 21, one of only two winners.

Antony Hayman (26.84) featured strongly for “Tap” and emerged a 3-0 winner in 16, 17 and 23, hitting his 19th and 20th maximum of the campaign while in winning 3-1, Paul Gavican finished 15 and 18 dart legs with checkouts of 155 and 107 respectively.

Alan Masters (100x11) top scored for Bluebird B in their 7-4 defeat of Plympton Cons while Octagon B won 8-3 away at Bluebird A.

Victory Inn A were the only team to win in double figures when restricting Porters B to a single point while Porters A defeated Victory Inn B 8-3.

Scott Wapshott emerged a 3-2 winner aided by a leg in 15 darts as did Chris Beale for the Honicknowle side.

Indian Inn B won by the narrowest of margins when edging out Ford Hotel, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Maritime when hosting Bluebird C.

Kieran Burns (100x14) top scored for Maritime with Glenn Austin (100x13) replying for the visitors.
