Top trio should remain unaltered until end of season

THE top three places in the Plymouth City Super League seem to have sorted themselves out and I would be very surprised if they don’t remain unaltered until the end of the campaign.

Unbeaten leaders Brewery Tap won 10-1 away at Hyde Park and had John Mann (pictured) winning in 17, 17 and 16 to post a 30.06 average.

Also catching the eye were their top scorers Andy Bates (100x12) and Antony Hayman (100x12).

Second placed Octagon Social Club were the biggest winners of the week and in beating Plympton Cons B 11-0, put 69 throws of a ton or more on the scoreboard.

Fred Goldsmith won 3-1 aided by a leg in 15 and top scored with 16 tons plus throws while being well supported by Dave Matthews (100x13), Lee Hellings (100x12) and Dave Pethick (100x12).

Victory Inn A consolidated third place when also winning the bragging rights against stable mates Victory B by an 8-3 margin.

James Preen won 3-1 aided by a leg in 15 which he finished with the week’s highest checkout of 120 while catching the eye for Victory B was Quinton Taylor (100x15).

Bluebird A defeated Kings Arms A 7-4 while there were 9-2 successes for Kings Arms B and Maritime A against Bluebird Bandits and The Staddy respectively.

The Fawn won 9-2 whilst hosting Ker St A and had Simon Stevenson top scoring with 13 ton plus throws which included two maximums.

Dave Collins inspired Plympton Cons A to victory away at the St Levan Inn, securing all but one of the 11 points that were on offer.

The marksman emerged a 3-0 winner, aided by a 12-darter and of the 11 ton plus scores he registered, three were maximum 180s.

Steam Packet led Ker St B 5-1 but still had to rely on Matt Thompson (100x14) to win the all important 11th point after the hosts had pulled it back to 5-5.

George Beckett was also prominent for the winners and won his singles in three straight legs with his best coming in 15 darts.

In the two remaining fixtures Kings Tamerton CC edged out Cherry Tree 6-5 and Maritime B defeated Victoria 8-3.
