Wells inspires Brewery Tap to victory with 11-dart leg
GLYN Wells (pictured) was in a rich vein of form, inspiring Brewery Tap to a 10-1 victory away at Maritime Misfits in the Porters Function Room 501 Top 20 League.
Wells top scored with 18 throws of a ton or more and emerged a 3-2 winner in 20, 18 and 11 darts.
He was well supported by Kieran Burns (29.83) who won 3-0 in 18, 19 and 17.
League leaders Porters Patriots defeated King Billy 8-3 with Scott Cook (27.83) winning 3-0 in 17, 17 and 20.
The Patriots also had a share in the week’s top checkout award when Malcolm Johns obliged with a kill of 151.
There was also a finish of 151 from Scott Wapshott in Porters Pretenders’ 9-2 win at Falstaff while Torpoint Cons defeated Maritime Nutters 7-4 and Maritime Musketeers secured all but one of the 11 points away at Cherry Tree.
Victory B made a good recovery away at The Clifton and won the last three singles to prevail 6-5, the same winning scoreline that was also achieved by Fawn A when hosting Indian Inn.
Victory Inn A defeated Octagon 9-2, the highlight being a 2-0 doubles success for Tony Tasker and Kelvin Rowe with one of the 601 legs being claimed in 17 darts.
Rowe was also their leading marksman, recording 13 ton plus throws throughout the fixture.
Kings Arms edged out Maritime Governors 6-5 in a fixture that saw six maximums recorded which included a brace each for Jason Pinkerton and Danny Allen.
Allen went on to win his singles 3-1 which included a leg in 14.
In a re-arranged fixture Maritime Governors defeated Falstaff 9-2 and had Lee Hellings hitting two maximums in one leg before emerging a 3-0 winner.
